I played a ton of Doom 2 and Duke Nuke Em back in the day. Recently I've played the Borderlands series more than any other games, BL2 is my favorite.

Best FPS game ever. Online only. 64 player matches in 1998. No hit scan weapons. Free mods, free maps, anyone can make them. It was glorious. Tribes 2 was ok, but all other sequels were shite compared to the original. Looks like you guys missed out.

I'm a Battlefield guy, but the LAN all-nighters in the dorm with Ghost Recon and SOCOM were epic. We'd have 60ish people just rotating in all night on 20-30 machines.
Sometimes it was more fun to watch, talk shite, and get fricked up instead of playing.

I did not find it to be anything special.

Introduced a lot of consolers to big multiplayer matches, LAN parties, even online play through Gamespy Arcade Tunnel or whatever they called it. My first dual analog game was technically Time Splitters, but Halo was where I first got the hang of it. And it was simple enough to where most people could play it and enjoy it. Epic maps. CE pistol is still one of my all time favorite shooter weapons.
I had revisited it years ago and in light of recent shooters it's a bit raw, but when you think "console seller", I think Halo was the genesis of that and what it did for OG Xbox sells. I bought my first one solely to do LAN parties with Halo.

I meant overall in terms of the impact that Halo had on future shooter games. We all have our personal favs. and Halo was what me and my brother's and friends played so it also had sentimental aspect to it.
