Modding Oblivion was my first time diving into modding. But damn did random NPC character dialogue sparks a ton of "wtfs".

The thief and assassin quests are, IMHO, much better than Skyrim's.

yep. the thieves guild in skyrim was rubbish, dark brotherhood was totally forgettable

oblivion on the other hand, has you working with the gray fox and infiltrating the imperial palace to steal an elder scroll and working through all those zany twists with the Dark Brotherhood. amazing.

Absolutely my favorite part of Oblivion. Everything in the intro is just a lead up for me to hurry up and murder someone to join the Brotherhood.

Yeah, same here. I enjoyed Skyrim but never finished.

Morrowind grabs me with that weird world and Oblivion just felt more engaging. Exploration is Skyrim was some of the best ever, but it loses major points after that for me.

Which is why it's awesome there is a group working on completely redoing Oblivion using Skyrim's engine. I just hope they're actually able to finish it.

That is what you have to call love for the game - that amount of work for no pay is absurd.

Well to be fair, Bethesda has given jobs to some of the better modders out there.

And even if you don't get a job directly, pulling something off like that is one hell of a resume builder for getting in to game design.

I wish going back to those older games wasn't so hard because my first entry into the ES games was Skyrim, so it will always be special to me, but I hear all of that about Morrowind and Onlivion and would love to experience that.

ETA Downloading Oblivion right now.

Oblivion is awesome.

Some people didn’t like some of the repetitiveness of the oblivion gates, but the world was amazing.

And like people said, the guilds were much better.

I feel Morrowind might be too old for me to actually be able to play.

Morrowind is weird bro, in the good way.

If you just look around, then think about the things being said, quests you are doing, it is so different from other Elder Scrolls games.

Morrowind is my favorite. Oblivion and Skyrim are about equal for me.

It holds up, and the greatest DLC of all time was Shivering isles, that DLC is absolutely brilliant.

Still love skyrim, it was my first tes game, but man o man was the shivering isles brilliant.

It's great, but among the first mods you'll want will be ones that enhance the graphics. It won't compete with Skyrim's, but it'll be less jarring than what you're used to.

I replay Morrowind for a bit almost every year. It’s easy to mod it to looking gorgeous. The only gameplay aspect that feels really outdated is the dice roll affecting whether you actually hit things in combat. It makes your skills with weapons matter so much more especially in the early going.

Oblivion was the best modding base but I thought the base game was the most lacking.

There is an overhaul mod that makes it the best game in the series.

Morrowind was the last ES game that was a really good base game. Choice really mattered.
