I'll admit that I dont know the first thing about modding, and everyone has their own ideas when I Google it, so I'll trust you guys if you can show me a link or two to get started.

Jesus Sic
But tools are out there which manages your mods.
Bad part is, most Windows Updates break them to no end. So I install mods manually.
Nexus: Oblivion Mods
Just start there, search and read the install step descriptions. It is easy, like, consolers can probably do it.

shut up, coyote
thanks
I messed with mods for Skyrim years ago, but I was on a PC hiatus for quite some time and stopped messing with any of it.

Yeah, understand.
Back story with Oblivion modding, I used to talk on a site/forum that was literally called "computer forum".
It is where I first heard of Oblivion and modding games back in the mid 2000s.

Morrowind over Oblivion for me.
Sure it was a bit too easy to become god powered in Morrowind but we could fly. I never forgave Bethesda for removing flight.
Flight was so awesome.

i truly believe its the best ES game. amazing guild quests and sidequests
The combat is a gigantic mess, but the quests are so much more rewarding.

I loved it, I just wish they had hired more voice actors. Hearing the same handful of voices on a bajillion different characters takes me out of the game.

Goddamn it, I love Oblivion. About to re-install it right now.

Oblivion was my first ES games - I dig it because it is reasonably focused. The leveling thing was annoying early, but once I got used to it (and all the web resources on how to shortcut the grinding), but the "game" aspect of the game was better than Skyrim, IMHO.
On the other hand, the more open world scope and freedom of Skyrim was a blast. I also didn't mod Oblivion, whereas I ended up moderately modding Skyrim and got many more hours out of it.

I am early in the game of Skyrim. Finally killing bears and this tiger or lion or something pops out. It really has a dark side to it. Is it really needed? I am sick of killing evil fugly witches and collecting weird arse shite.

Better missions, quests, and NPC's than Skyrim. That being said, hooo boy the awful combat. Skyrim isn't exactly 10/10 but Oblivion was horrendous on that front.
