Finally finished my first playthrough. 225 hours total.

I’m just about on my 3rd playthrough at 300 hours. How did you rack up so many hours on one playthrough? I’ve actually put off my 3rd because I’m enjoying helping people with bosses.
Looks like the latest patch will let you keep your bell bearings if I read that right?
Freddie, I don’t use shields either, but it’s a rare item and I did the 3 fingers ending so I backtracked and got the shield I missed down there.

I followed Fightin' Cowboy's walkthrough on YouTube, but I spent A LOT of time farming and doing co-op. I finished at around Rune Level 205 and had about 200 Rune Arcs (not counting all the ones I used on the playthrough). Almost all of those Rune Arcs came from doing co-op.

Booted back up last night. Headed into Stormveil I til a dude in a dark room destroyed me a few times. Headed south to the weeping peninsula since there's markers there too.

I made a new character who is a pure strength sword and board type. I'm having way more fun using a shield.

Was struggling to get into the game.
Decided to start over and created a Guts build that is a pure strength/great sword build.
Made it further than I have before but still kind of fizzled out. Haven’t touched it in a month. Game is great and meh to me all the same time.

Is there an actual story/narrative to this game at all?
Or is it all just run around and grind getting stronger so you can fight the next big badass without much point to it?

Basically this. The story is there but you also have to work for it…on top of already working on whatever it is that’s beating your arse.

I walked away for a few months and I’m about to start my fifth play through. Strength/Faith lightning build has been awesome. It vaporizes dragons in about 5 seconds. I really need that Golden Order ending. I messed it up at the very end.

Summons, weapons arts, etc. I like the simplicity of Souls.
