yep, just get up and leave, that's how i've always done it as well and the game did a good job of showing people you don't have to just sit there and listen to someone's LARP fantasy and be polite.

if only this “ignore it and it’ll go away” tactic worked for society as whole.

Works pretty well for me. I've gone almost 40 years without referring to anyone by their preferred pronoun rather than their God-given one

Bad wording to be sure.

But, as a libertarian, I feel you can do whatever you want to your own body

If you want to be a girl, go absolutely bonkers

But your choices can't make demands on me. That is ALWAYS where I drew the line

You want to wear a dress and be called Samantha? Cool

You want me to acknowledge you as an actual woman, interchangeable with a factory model? Nah Fam.

You want me to use pronouns I find inaccurate and wrong? Depends on how it inconveniences me, or how much an obnoxious arse you are about it.

Completely agree. And as a libertarian, I'm 100%, aggressively opposed to any kind of government legislation, such as making it illegal to misgender/deadname, etc. I don't care if you call someone ma'am or motherfricker, unless it's a violation of the NAP, frick off.

I agree with you, but I think we define this differently.

So far so good.

I actually agree with you here, which I'll address more in a bit.

Here's where you and I break a bit, as I don't view gendered pronouns are being "inaccurate and wrong" simply because they don't align with someone's biological sex. I put gender based pronouns in the same basket as I do someone being called doctor, father, pastor, or whatever: simply polite social honorifics. All of these things only mean something in the capacity that society has decided that they mean something.

Now, if you define sex and gender as identical, then I understand where you're coming from. I don't, defining sex as biological and gender as an outward expression of certain societal norms. Does wearing a dress make someone a woman? Not at all. Does it mean they are, at least somewhat, expressing female gender norms? Yep. Do we have some hard and fast divine mandate regarding whether English pronouns have to follow biological sex or gender expression? Nope. So if someone would prefer that I use a pronoun that matches their gender expression as opposed to their biological sex, I'm perfectly fine with it and don't view it as "inaccurate and wrong". That's where I deviate from my friends on the right.

Now where I deviate from my friends on the left...

For decades, the position I outlined above was a fairly standard "liberal" position on sex and gender. Then, at some point in the last half decade or so, progressives went from "sex is biological and gender is a social construct which is also not a binary but a continuum" to "sex doesn't matter, gender expression is all that matters. Also, gender determines someone's sex even though that doesn't matter. Also gender is a binary when we want it to replace sex but also a continuum when someone isn't binary."

The progressive position that gender is not only something akin to intrinsic/biological but also as the only thing that matters, utterly replacing sex, is absurd to me. Not only that, but I view it as an utter repudiation of everything they've fought for on the subject over the last literal half century. In my opinion, this utterly disingenuous position, whether conscious or subconscious, is going to do real harm to the societal gains non-binary and transgender individuals have made over the last decade or so. And I flat out say that to the faces of my progressive friends. I absolutely fricking hate it.

But you are in an infinitesimally small group that feel this way, which I am sure you are aware.

You can acquiesce to whatever constructed reality you want, as long as it doesn't adversely affect me. Nor do your language choices allow you to make demands on me and others.
