Do You Use Walkthroughs?

With most linear games, you can stroll through without missing anything.

Games like DA:O and Dark Souls are a different story. There is so much you can miss, and if you hit an area too early, it will make the game miserable. Or you can screw up a build and render a party member useless.

So when do you seek out help? I'm using guides to build my DA:O party and for quest sequence.

I try not to, but I just watched ENB play everything I had already played in Bloordborne. He did it with a lot more attention to detail though and found some stuff I completely missed.

I couldn't imagine attempting a Souls game without a build guide and walkthrough. They're too deep, and I know I will miss a lot.

I don't for the most part. I am not with Bloodborne now but I know I am missing stuff. Guides just ruin the adventure aspect of it for me.

Second play through sure.

I'm looking up what items do and getting advice for builds, upgrades, weapons, etc... i'm not using one for where to go though. I want to attempt that myself first. I wish I would have looked up some info on Demon's Souls because I think I might have understood it better.

I am actually staying away from the thread here so I don't get spoiled. Any single player game I do this, including Dragon Age, etc.

Now multiplayer games are different because you know that is a race.

Everyone is so far ahead of me in that thread that I don't usually understand what people are talking about

No way I could've made it very far in Wind Waker without a guide. Puzzles aside, just how are you supposed to know how to find all those Triforce shards?

Yeah, that's the thing, it is so hard to describe anything, outside of major plot spoilers or feature spoilers, it is hard to spoil what is ahead.

For Zelda games yes. I try not to with most games unless I'm really stuck.

You know what game series I'd wager are IMPOSSIBLE to play without some sort of guide? Monkey Island. And maybe even Myst. Love those games, but I feel so dumb playing them.

I don't know how I did this, but I totally beat Wind Waker without a guide back in the day.

To this day, I haven't 100%'d a zelda game. There is always a handful of heart pieces that taunt me as I helplessly walk by.

I 100%'ed Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and Ocarina of Time... and I'm sure I'll do the same with the one coming out on the WiiU

Once I found out that Skyward Sword was a prequel - I lost all interest, I just can't get into prequels, like at all.

I recently replayed A Link to the Past and it felt like a giant inside joke for the developers. "Oh sure, of course I'm supposed to dig in this exact location with the shovel, go to another dimension, give contents of hole to stranger, take flute thing received from stranger across map and play said flute thing in front of a statue. Seems so obvious now."

There is 1 heart piece in Ocarina that always stops me. I've spent hours fishing and never get one big enough.

I don't remember wanting to use guides or walkthroughs back in the day. We didn't have the accessibility to them as we do now. The only way I knew I missed something is when a friend showed me.

I try my best to figure it out without help, but will turn to walkthroughs before i let myself get too frustrated.
