Classic game console.. Rasberry pi 4. 135,000 games up to Gamecube era. ***UPDATE in OP***
Just ordered it, kind of excited.

Yes, I'm sure I could have built one.. but for the price and the work seemed worth it just to buy.

***Update***

Ok, so to start off this thing is awesome. Gonna break my review into a few sections.

1. Hardware

The little case is pretty nice. It's not awesome or anything, but it's well made out of several thick layers of cut acrylic and is sturdy. Has some rubber feet to keep it from sliding around that work good.

The controllers are much nicer than expected. They are the iNNext brand and the buttons and dpad feel great and it feels solid overall. I can throw it when I get angry like a kid. Only downside is they are wire and only six feet. But you could get a usb extension or buy some wireless ones and have these as extras.

Power cord has a built in on/off switch, so after you safely shut it down in the software you can just click the button on the power cord to shut of the Pi.

Fan is extremely quiet.

2. Setting up

Easy and booted right up as expected, no issues. Heard you want to put the hdmi cable in the slot next to the power port or you may have no audio. I did and no audio issues.

3.Game Select Menu Layout

Pretty slick main menu to select the console. Game select menu is bland, no artwork or previews. But I expected this as this is how they fit so many games on it. They offer some others that have less games (but still the most popular) that do come with artwork and previews.

4. Games

So I counted 65 different consoles. I'm not going to list how many games each console has. But if you would like to know a specific one or if a specific game is there I'll let you know.

But to give you an idea

Dreamcast - 11 games
Sega - 1699
Nintendo 64 - 302
NES - 3697
Playstation - 32
Sega CD - 5
Sega 32x - 36
SNES - 3303

Gamegear - 661
Gameboy - 988
Gameboy advance - 1740

5. Gameplay

So far I've only played a few, but everything works good on the ones I've tried except the controllers are probably going to have to be set up to work with games they arent meant for.

But that's to be expected. Playing N64 mario cart with a snes controller means you may need to set some buttons to do what you want, etc.

Tried N64 mario kart, medal of honor on PS1, and mortal kombat on sega. All worked great.

Let me know if ya have any other questions.

I mean for those specs, case, storage space, and 2 decent controllers you couldn’t build it yourself for much cheaper. Besides you could always re image that SD card for an OS and game collection you like more

Also, welcome to world of retro gaming in current times where you can Save at any moment and load from there.

We used to have Blitz tournaments on the gamecube. There were legit fights that took place from playing Blitz and a lot of controllers replaced. We had to always keep a backup controller because countless amount of controllers were broker. Gamecube was a good game console.

That was my thought. Might have saved 50 bucks if I did it myself????

I’ve got the classiq duel NES/SNES with a 235 in 1 cartridge for nes and a 110 in 1 for SNES. Less than $100 into it and it feels like old school setup which is nice

More like $25-30.

Just built one with similar specs for my nephew for Christmas. You got to want to build it yourself or want it in a custom case or something to make it worth it

I still don’t think I’ll ever beat Top Gun or Contra solo even with Save state.

Contra isn’t bad

Top Gun is harder than being an actual F-14 pilot

I lived in the freshman dorms at USM when Blitz and 007 Goldeneye rolled out on NES 64.

Kids now are missing out man.

Told my wife I was going to be excited just to be able to look up what to do. So many games I had as a kid that I quit cause I didnt have a book and would get stuck on what to do next.

It’s really easy. 10-15 minutes. You’d have no problem swapping the cases out. Check out the RetroFlag cases.

It’s finding the OS build, formatting the SD, and customizing the OS to your liking, etc ...that is the time waster.

It’s an interesting blast to the past. There are games as a kid I can remember beating pretty quickly, that I just don’t have the patience or hand/eye coordination for nowadays. But there are also games I couldn’t beat back then, that with Save state I’ve been able to finish and enjoy.

Blitz 2000’s system for keeping the CPU close made Matt Corral against Arky and LSU look like Joe Burrow

I never beat top gun

Ninja Gaiden II was my kryptonite but I finally beat that fricker

I played thru and beat Mario three times in a row when I was 10. Had to get crown crown lives

I’ve beat every Mario.

I was a sophomore in college when golden eye came out. We played that game more than we went to class or studied
