Not from me because I 100% agree. I played 7 first as a kid but got stuck at the wall climb. Never Finished. Then got 8 and beat it. X is my favorite logically. 8 is my hearts favorite.

For those that have gotten to play some. Is the parry mechanic and the windows really hard/unforgiving? I saw some people complaining about it in the Steam forums, but I usually chalk that up to the player being bad.

I remember X having mixed reviews but it was always one of my favorite games and my favorite FF game. I actually really liked the sphere grid and i think that was a point of contention for some.

Im gonna wait til i get a long weekend to start this. Have watched some live streams at work today and it looks like a lotta fun.

VIII's story was so whacky and fun and all over the place, and that gave it a certain charm. Its world was way more fun to explore than VII's too.

VIII is my all time favorite and I think VII is the most overrated. Played and beat both as a kid. Admittedly VIII was my very first FF and RPG altogether so it holds a special place in my heart, I refused to play the remaster because I didn’t want to ruin my memories of it as a kid.

Anyways, I’m in Act 1 and just grinding at the first check point. It is similar to souls in that you can have flags (campfires) that you can heal at and apply attribute and skill points after leveling, however if you back track to a flag the enemies ahead of it will respawn. Being able to heal at these flags unconditionally provides easy grinding opportunities

Only thing I have heard is that someone said it "Felt" harder to do with higher graphic settings. He also stated that it could have been in his head.

As far as difficulty I have no idea.

Playing on expert. Dodging is easier than parrying. The window for dodging is a lot bigger, parry has to be perfect, but if you hit it then you get a counter attack. For dodge you just simply avoid damage. On expert, if you mis time more than 1 or 2 dodged or parries you’re dead. I’ve been mostly playing it safe and dodging, but some single hit attacks are easy to parry if you know it’s coming. Battles are going to be all about timing and seeing the attack patterns of the enemies a few times before getting it down

I also love the sphere grid, 13's crystarium or whatever, and then low key underrated is the 12's license.

Even on Expert, I found the timing windows to be very generous.

I like how the lower your health the bloodier your character is while exploring. Pretty cool

Once I realized the on screen text gave you hints as to the timing of the next strike, I've found it to be fairly easy. And I typically suck at parrying in any game.

Just played through the prologue.

What a horrifying world to live in.

Fantastic original story design.

I’m starting to get a bit of a hang of the parry and dodge.

Playing on expert. Died a few times already.

Just beat the first big boss, wasn’t to bad. I’m assuming this is where the demo ended. Story is fascinating and the world is beautiful. Getting better at the dodging/parrying. Strategizing with the “stains” and how to best utilize AP is the next big thing and will probably matter a lot more once the battles get tougher

I’m sold so far. Game is great. Will pick it back up after lunch

FWIW I said the same thing about FF16 early into it, then the battle system got old and repetitive pretty quick and I never finished it. I don’t think this will be the same since it’s turned based but will try to be cautiously optimistic

Reading some things saying that some of these devs are ex-ubisoft devs. Possible since French based.

Lol at ubi if true.

This is good to hear. I guess it's not surprising to run into a bunch of bads complaining non stop on the steam forums and reddit.

Makes you realize how much good talent is wasted in the giant corporate game companies.

Game is phenomenonal.

Obviously you want a good story line but for me if a game has an excellent soundtrack, it's like a woman who's a 6 with a 10 personality...marriage material.

This game thankfully has elite levels of both with great graphics to boot.

I still can’t get the timing on the mime’s hammer attack.

Punch attack is easy to parry.

I do like fighting with Luna. Probably need to pay more attention to stains, but it doesn’t seem to be a big factor yet.

Not gonna lie that optional Green enemy up on the right early in Act 1 took me about 10 tries. Had to be perfect on every dodge/parry or it was a 1 shot kill. He was harder than the first big boss
