they have really been struggling. i shite you not when i say my xobx hasnt been turned on in about 2 years. console play has been dominated by PS for me and PC just fills in what i would have otherwise missed on their console, which isnt much.

What exclusives does PS got coming out this year? FF16 and Spiderman?

And that's assuming Square finally puts out another good Final Fantasy. I've given up on that though.

Put simply, PlayStation doesn't have nearly enough exclusives to overcome the value of Game Pass.

The XBox Games/Starfield direct on June 11 will be a great view of what the future holds, and pretty soon a load of Activision games will be hitting Game Pass. I'm not seeing any reason to shell out for a PS5 just for the small handful of exclusives I might want to play but probably wouldn't pay $70 for.

The Dreamcast had a longer and better line up of exclusives in its three year life cycle than Xbox has had in the last and current gen. Its terrible and I say that as someone who primarily plays on Xbox right now.

Agreed. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a PS and Xbox the last 3 gens but Xbox has dropped the ball after the 360 gen. The Xbone had a few good hits but not like the PS4. That’s why I got a PS5 and that’s what I’m sticking with.

Thats true...the 1st party output isnt really impressive on Sony's end either which is why I havent gotten a PS5 yet. That and I dont have as much time to spend on gaming so Game Pass has kept me well occupied.

They need some more marquee titles, but they've had some pretty solid exclusives lately that I'd have never played if not for Game Pass.

Hi-Fi Rush is really awesome. They should have given it a physical release and just stealth released Redfall instead. I really don't understand the MS marketing of games sometimes.

I just beat this a few days ago. Pretty fun. Makes me really want to play the newest ratchet and clank but it still hasn't come to ps plus/extra.

This is a legitimately fun game...but why are we talking about 2014 here?

sea of thieves

This game has a large player base. Not sure what the L is here.

Halo

I enjoyed the single player campaign on Infinite but I don't play online so I'll take your word for it.

I really think they should have put more behind Hi-Fi Rush and dialed back Redfall. Maybe even delayed Redfall again.

Now they're getting Rare involved to fix Redfall's issues, so I'm sure the game will end up being great before long, but why didn't that happen before release?

All 3 of those were fun games.

Halo did have a bad launch, but single player was fun and worth the GP membership. They are correcting MP, but who know what happens after the layoffs.

I don’t have GP, I’m still old fashioned and buy yearly gold memberships. Halo infinite was enjoyably but was lacking depth for a open world game imo. The pinnacle was CE through 3, I enjoyed ODST and Reach as well. They will never capture that lightning again in regards to Halo

I don't think Bill Gates is involved with Microsoft anymore.

Sounds like another must have Xbox game!

Game pass is just the clearance bin for video games at this point.

Opposite for me. I have played 3 or 4 big PS exclusives and outside of that I use the XBox every day as my game and home entertainment hub.

The Xboxseries subreddit has been a gold mine for the last few days. Many are turning

quote:

“Good enough for GamePass” is the best summation of Xbox’s problem right now. The idea that “hey I’m only out $15 so whatever” is such a horrible precedent to set by Xbox

quote:

I saw someone saying they’re glad it’s a GamePass game since it didn’t meet expectations. I’m scared this is the future we’ll find ourselves in - being okay with mediocre games since “we didn’t pay for them.”

quote:

GamePass is the direct to video of games

quote:

Review outlets using 'Good enough for gamepass' in their tag line just feels like an insult to injury. The game is hovering in the low 60s on metacritics. These are crackdown 3 level scores. It feels like every time we hit rock bottom, somehow these guys find a dynamite and start blasting the bedrock to dig even further. If this is what gamepass leads to, I really don't want to be part of that future.

quote:

Gamepass has become a detriment to Xbox. Phil Spencer and Xbox are too focused on filling up their subscription service with content and compromising the quality of their games in the process. Where is the quality control? If Redfall was a standalone $70 game that didn’t exist on gamepass Day 1, it would never have been released in this state. I’ve owned every Xbox console since the original but this is the end of the line for me. Two and half years of empty promises and half baked content. Sony is actually using the full power of their machine and releasing great AAA games. I’ll take a quality $70 release over a Day 1 Gamepass release any day of the week. God help Starfield.

Oof

As we’ve seen with Netflix and basically every subsequent iteration and copy - subscription based services lead to an overwhelming majority of shite product.

There is no planet on which I’d pay full price for GamePass. Everyone is on it now because of all the exploits where you get 3 years for cheap af. Very few people are gonna pay $15/mo for it and stay on it. When the one must-play game comes out on it every 3-4 years, people will pay for a month or two until they beat it and then hop right off (like many do with television streaming services now)

If Starfield isn’t a Skyrim level blockbuster, Xbox is in deep shite

Instead of getting their own IPs in order, they’d rather buy up more and potentially ruin those, too.
