Looks pretty good and an obvious Dead Space clone.

Anyone planning on picking this up on day 1?

Most of the crew worked on the OG Dead Space, so that makes sense.

And I will absolutely be picking this up Day 1.

I preordered it. So damn excited. Ive even been listening to the podcast mini-story they’re releasing (6 episodes) with Gwendolyn Christie as the main character.

Dead Space re-make releases late January. Gonna be an amazing 2 months of gaming!

I liked this video of a Q&A with the game's director:

Yahoo UK accidently posted the review

Was given a perfect score. It was taken down almost instantly since the embargo is still in effect but thats promising. This will be the 1st game I buy in awhile so hopefully that reviews holds up.

Why is Steam showing the purchase as Callisto Protocol Day One Edition? What do you get?

3/5 from Games Radar. Said the combat is very, very frustrating.

7 from IGN. Basic problems were the melee combat in the beginning was frustrating and later upgrades are over powered, and there isn't much to do postgame. Little disappointing but not entirely unexpected.

Its hard to get a feel for gameplay watching videos but it seemed like it would be frustrating in previews and there were comments that death comes fast and often especially in the beginning. I also heard it was not scary at all which is a bummer. I'll probably wait for a sale on this one and keep an eye on the Dead Space-Remake next month.

Yep Digital Foundry did a good breakdown of performance. The PS5 version does the best, real disappointing stutters on the PC version even with a topped out PC.

I have so many games to play now, I'll just wait until it's cheap and hopefully patches improve performance.

Regardless of any negative reviews, i’m still picking this up today and will boot it up tonight. I’ll provide my impressions in a couple of days.

So far…. This game feels strange. Still enjoying it but it’s missing polish in a number of areas.

At the end of the day though, it just doesn’t feel very scary. I usually do get a little scared when playing horror games and here I’m just trodding along without a worry in the world. Because while nothing is bad, it doesn’t fully pull you into the setting and I can’t quite say why other thanT times there’s scripted actions in the background on repeat

I’m enjoying it, but it just doesn’t have the full immersion feel of a great horror game and I think that falls on the scripted portions.

The crawling through ducts and the slipping through small opening bits are overused.

The fighting is…unusual. I don’t mind the gun play, but I would rather it focus on the gun play, like Dead Space did. It just tried to be “different” and it falls short.

I am also not a fan of forced damage. There are unavoidable events where you essentially have to take damage from an enemy and in games where health is supposed to be a hard to come by resource, it just feels cheap.

From what I have seen so far, the game is somewhat unpolished and needs a pretty decent amount of refinement.

I’m not upset that I bought it, I just wish it was more in the realm of Dead Space.
