And its the reason theyre in the situation I spent a lot of time typing out above.
Shouldn't have made that detour for Howard's life long love project. Sounded good on paper but trying to translate the Bethesda formula into a genre like that was destined to fail.

All of that is 100% true but more than anything I think it’s what I said
When you’re a studio playing at the level where you are responsible for creating and then having to further make games in the universe of some of the greatest IPs ever the magic number really does seem to be two with all that goes into making games now,
Attempt to go for 3 or higher and you will dilute quality and it’s how you end up with main main entrees in franchise being nearly 20 years apart,
Seriously look around and try to find studios who handle more than 2 successfully and what you’ll find instead is that 2 is what all the successful ones settle on and build out from there,
The only possible exception to this is Capcom but I would argue they aren’t an exception they’re just incredibly efficient at pumping out game after game while having only one true pillar franchise as things stand currently, resident evil.
Examples;
CDPR- the Witcher and cyberpunk
SQE- Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest
Prior to their implosion BioWare- Mass Effect and Dragon Age
Insomniac- Spider Man and Wolverine
Blizzard and Activision are a bit of an exception to prove the rule but primarily blizzard is concerned with overwatch and Wow (two franchises) and Activision is concerned with black ops and modern warfare (two franchises)
You can literally do this for days

Yes sir. The downfall of Bioware was tough to watch in real time.

Which one is better? fallout 3 or new Vegas? I’m assuming new Vegas

Everyone drools over NV but I found it to be a buggy mess. There were multiple game breaking bugs that would kill the immersion. Im looking forward to playing it again though if they iron all that out in the remake.

I would love a version of Fallout 3 and NV that allowed settlement building like fallout 4.
I didn’t have complex settlements but it was nice to build settlements all over the map and allowed a very fun survival gameplay experience.

Remakes and remasters exist on a scale that’s extremely wide so I don’t like it I paint broad strokes saying Remakes bad or Remakes good.
Consider Oblivion's a remaster
Consider FFVII a remake

Settlement building is what kept me coming back to FO4 but it seems like that would be a pretty big addition. I'm just expecting them to fix all the bugs and update the graphics.

I mention this in every fo4 settlement thread, but I’ll say it again:
The settlement building in fo4 was WAY better and more intriguing than darn near anything else I’ve played.
With switches and sirens, anytime “a settlement got attacked”, I had a npc standing next to a switch. He could instantly switch off every water filtration system that was using power and immediately reroute it to my laser turret battery. The depth of the entire electric system Bethesda implemented was extraordinary to me.
Spotlights found a threat in the woods, siren sounds, switches flipped, my simple water farming community turned into the Iron Dome. Threat resolved and switched back.

I'd be happy with this + twerking the combat. I think that NV is a significantly better game than FO4, but I do prefer the combat of 4, somewhat decreasing the importance of VATS in exchange for much more fluid standard fighting.
I know that it's based on an old rumor, but Mr Matty Plays recently talked about the possibility of FO5 being in NOLA (starts around 25m), and he briefly talks about it again in the last 2 minutes:

The big problem with NOLA as a setting is that it's obviously flat as shite, so they'd need to take some liberty with the geography (or just say that the nukes made it hilly).

This was way too complicated for me. I just gave my settlers automatic weapons and they took care of themselves. Attacks always came from the same one or two spawn points so you could just load up your turrets there.

Been about a decade but iirc, around lvl 50 or 60 those settlement attacks got pretty intense and full of super mutants, thus I determined I needed a final solution.
Complete overkill? Oh yeah. Tons of fun though and Bethesdas entire settlement system was way more intricate and detailed than I ever expected.
Felt like I had a minor in electrical engineering with the crazy shite I had running.
Basically the game went from “a settlement is under attack” (yawn) to “frick yeah let’s see what I cooked up”
