Is there a benefit to doing this or just for shits and giggles?

Bodies weigh a frick ton. It’s nice to have a place to put 50 bodies where you can go and take a few out, drop em on the ground, and make em zombies before a fight.

The big one is "try everything". They spent an amazing amount of time anticipating all kinds of messed up and creative ways that players would approach challenges. It's so worth it to save scum and come up with different ideas.

I'd suggest getting level 4 before tackling her at least. Check out the areas in the far north area from her swamp to get more experience (if you did everything everywhere else). Magic missile is your friend going up against her as well.

I'm still trying to find ways to fully explore each region. Kinda get stuck at points, wish the map was laid out a bit better. Paths are hard to find, IMO. But i am a newb, so it's probably on me.

No, I had the same issue early on. It took me a while to really get going.

Try to train yourself to look for ledges you can jump to and vines you can climb. Not saying that’s what’s limiting you wherever you are, but it’s something I still have to remind myself about.

For me, the Act 1 area was the toughest to find enough things to give me experience. They are there, but it feels like they spread it out further apart on this map than the others. It could also be that by the time someone finishes Act 1, they have a better feel of where to find things to do.

You're playing a rogue so you'll have a decent chance at finding hidden passages. Look at your map for areas that look like the path continues on into the areas still blackened (fogged). There is an old, abandoned temple north of where the ilithid ship crashed with lots to experience. There's a hidden cave near the entry to the druid grove. There's a whole other town to the west of the druid grove.

Also, you get experience from accomplishing things like Intimidation, Persuasion, etc. There are interactions where you can do these things then fight anyway (thus double-dipping in getting exp from them).

we experienced the same thing, so we ended up going through Act 1 faster than we should have. The result being we missed some key things that would have opened up additional side quests in Acts 2 and 3.

Just finished yesterday afternoon and are already planning another playthrough. Neither one of us had played a game like this before so we had no idea what we were doing in much of Act 1. Should be able to fare much better in the 2nd playthrough.

On average how long is it to run through an entire playthrough for you guys that have completed one? Seems like it's going to take me abouuuut 3yrs at this point.

I’m currently 70 hours in. I would ballpark I’ll probably wrap at around 100 hours or so.

I appreciate the depth and level of detail on offer with this title. The main stumbling block I’ve got to get around is developing a better understanding of the combat mechanics and the ruleset the game is built on. I generally intuit battle systems and gameplay mechanics well, but I’m getting dumptrucked by all but the most basic of fights.

If I was running through it by myself I think this would be about right.

I just downloaded this game and it’s way different than I expected. I always heard it was similar to Diablo, obviously this one is a D&D style game and that takes some getting used to. I started a paladin. I need like a whole arse strategy book to understand this lol

Same. One thing I'm surprised the game didn't include is an in-game "wiki" of sorts detailing items, skills, mechanics, etc. Would have been super useful. Luckily I have dual monitors so when I don't know what something does I just look it up there.

I just cleared out the Goblin Sanctum, killing every leader. I was decimating people and feeling pretty good about myself.

Then I got to the last leader, not sure his race, but the non-elf, non-goblin leader and he was wrecking me for a bit. Kept hitting me so hard I'd fall into the pit with spiders. Finally I got him to come near me and had Karlach deal some good damage and then knock his arse into the chasm where the spiders finished him off. I thought, "how does it feel, a-hole??"

Then I exited into the Goblin camp and saw all of those little bastards waiting and thought, "shite." Tried fighting them for a few rounds until I had an idea and loaded right before exiting the sanctum. Then I just used fast travel to the Grove waypoint and it worked. Talk about a phew moment.

Be sure to go back and kill them for all their rich, creamy exp goodness.

They have a tutorial section that goes over most of that in the menus?

I’d quit now if I were you. This game sucks balls

The turn based stuff is lame and it keeps trying to force me to play split screen
