Oathbreaker Paladin/Warlock. I didn’t have Warlock mixed in at the time either. I went back to earlier saves and she still acted the same way, and I hadn’t encountered her before. It was weird. She was calling me a motherfricker and telling me she was going to kill me

Yeah, her intro into the story makes it a bit of work to get her onto your team but she's worth it from both the damage and VO standpoint. I still get a chuckle whenever I add her and get the "frick yeah!" voiceover.

i'm really enjoying this playthrough as a Seldarine Drow Monk.

Not going to lie, I've been a bit jelly at some of the unarmed combat effects on some of the gear I've seen.

Karach is definitely worth getting. She’s a good tank but her lines are great and she was the only storming that made me feel any emotion.

Instead of continuing with just my Rogue class as I level up, I just multi'd into a Rogue/Ranger combo. Want to be able to make use of long bows. Also, Karlach is awesome.

Will travelling to the Underdark or to the Mountain Pass autocomplete Act 1? I want to make sure I don't miss out on quests by triggering the 2nd Act.

The underdark is part of act 1, through the mountain pass is part of act 2 (not sure if it completely closes off quests or not, but I'd finish all of the Underdark and everything in Act 1 before heading through the pass).

I *think* you can go back to the Act 1 areas from Act 2, but not from Act 3 (at least not that I have seen yet).

I can’t speak to the Mountain Pass route, but there is a specific elevator in/after the Underdark route that triggers Act 2. It’s clearly demarcated.

Same here. I know almost nothing about D&D and have never played a CRPG before, but figured what the hell after hearing all the praise being given to BG3 and picked it up. I got up to level 5 and just reached the Grymforge. So far I’m enjoying it.

I gave the Owlbear cub my scent when it was at the goblin camp, but it still hasn't shown up at my camp yet. Want to say I've long rested at least 3-4 times since then. How long does it take for the cub to show up?

So I finally long rested again and during the night the cub showed up, I'm in the middle of dangling some food out in front of me when Karlach starts yelling about how cute the damn thing is and it runs off. Then she has the nerve to say, "We scared it off." The frick, Karlach, that was your demon arse that scared him off!

Same here, I didn't realize getting it into the group was even an option when I stumbled across it. I'll have to do that on the next playthrough.

I finished the game last night. Honestly, it's a well made game. I appreciate the attention to detail. I'm not one to immediately go back and replay games I just beat, but for those who do, it has a lot of replay value.

Overall though, I am not the biggest fan of Larian's approach to game design which I think negatively affected my enjoyment.

The game doesn't respect the player's time in a lot of ways beyond the turn-based combat, and many (if not the majority) of combat encounters feel tuned to just screw with the players.

BG3 is not the only game that gives players a lot of freedom as to how they can watch the story play out. If I want to play a game that gives me a lot of player agency, I'd have more fun playing something like New Vegas or even one of the Way of the Samurai games.

Examples? I can't think of any combat examples that I felt were unreasonable outside of early in my experience marching my entire group into a clear surrounded combat situation and then telling the baddies to kick rocks (oh, Nere...), which... is just what you normally do in games

But once I internalized that doing so was stupid, I haven't really had any issues with combat since.

This thread got me to start watching YT for tutorials and tricks. There is so much shite that I didn't know that I can do. I was in a playthrough for about 25 hours that I scrapped and restarted last night.

I didn't have a clue on simple shite like casting buffs on my characters outside of battle (specifically if they don't reset until the next long rest) or how to properly use concentration spells. I was doing so much stuff bass ackwards.
