Yes but I'm early 30's and sold off my gaming rig not long ago. Felt like most new games sucked and were busts or just didn't interest me anymore. Also got tired of sitting in front of a screen too much.

So now I live in Asia half the year and travel.

I can't say that I've aged out of games, but more and more "new" games don't interest me. It's probably a mixture of aging out of the target demo and games just not being as good as they once were.

I don't give a shite about the endless barrage of soulslikes and live service games. I play games mostly as a means for interactive storytelling and sense of immersion. Most modern games have shite writing where the story just serves to funnel you through a bunch of bullshite designed to promote microtransactions and battle passes.

Video games becoming a multibillion dollar industry has stifled creativity. The real talent behind long standing studios has either since left or been laid off and replaced with corporate drones or people whose primary goal is to push an agenda.

I'm old enough to remember when people got pissed off over $2.00 horse armor. These days, the shite has become so normalized that you constantly see things like "DLC Wishlist for Tekken 8 Season 2."

I'm older than you. I have a "backlog" problem. I have accumulated games over about an 18-month period and waiting to upgrade a computer. Now that I've completed the upgrade, I don't know which game to play first (after Cyberpunk 2077, of course).

And I haven't even purchased CO33, BG3, etc.

I still need to play Witcher 3, the second Pathfinder game, and a $hit-ton of strategy games.

Now, I do see this on the horizon. (Caveat: I'm on the bubble about Lies of P - that may be a souls-like I might try. I will likely never play a true live service game and don't like any micro-transaction heavy game as it is.)

My answer to that will be: "I can always go back and play RDR2 again. Subnautica, heavily modded Skyrim, etc."

Yeah, I get bored of most games after like 5 hours.

I really only play OSRS because this isnt a game but an addiction.

My tastes and likes have changed over the years. Went from shooter, action and sports gaming into sim, strategy and tycoon type games as I have headed into the twilight years. Have spent a lot of hours in the Paradox grand strategy games. EU4, HoI4 and CK3 mostly.

I definitely agree that things change as you get older. Family and responsibilities didn't align to grind into more in depth games like MMOs etc.

Still enjoy but I find myself more flush with cash at this stage and enjoy building, upgrading and tweaking the PC to benchmark sometimes.

Yeah this is where I was. Just had to be honest with myself that gaming wasn't really for me as much anymore. Hell I never even bought a console this Gen, looked at the games and thought nope. Looked at Switch 2 launch games and just laughed, nope.

I was done wasting time and money when it simply wasn't worth it.

Same boat here. Its weird when that switch flips internally. I have a series S in the house to play some NHL, PGA and the new EA college football. Usually when my Son and the grands come over.

Im 47 and playing about the same amount as I did when I was younger but I was never a marathon player. 2-3 hours is the most time I would ever spend in a play session of any type of game. Nowadays I do gravitate towards games that can be completed in less than 10 hours and are more narrative driven. Walking Simulators like Still Wakes the Deep and Nobody Wants to Die are more my thing now than vast open worlds that take 40-60 hours. I'll only play one or two of those a year. Variety also keeps me interested. I'll usually have 3 games in rotation at a time....like one retro title, an online shooter and something more story driven and play different things every other day.

36 with a soon to be 1 year old. Only time I get to play is when she’s down for a nap or when she goes to bed late at night and even then I find myself with my pc or xbox on just sitting there at the Home Screen and not playing anything. I think I’ve hit my wall. :(

I haven't aged out but it seems like I can only play certain genres anymore. Arpgs, mmos, survival games. I hardly ever play single player games anymore. The next game I hopefully buy is Borderlands 4. I like simple games that don't require much thought.

I've had to cut back on this recently too. Used to operate on 3-4 hours of sleep no problem. Now lack of sleep hits me like a freight train.

I started on an Atari 5200 and have throttled back over the years but I'm still a kid in some ways and that's a good thing, I think. I'm playing World of Tanks Blitz right now and give it about 90 minutes of my time a day. It's both fun and frustrating but if anything, I believe gaming is healthy neurologically especially when you're getting older.

I say this coming from a position where I've watched older people I know deteriorate mentally from either dementia or Alzheimer's and their doctors are trying to provide mental exercises that they can do to keep them sharp.

I'm showing my age here with my original gaming system, but I think about stuff like this all the time.

I need mindless games to disconnect. Or fast paced chaos

I hadn't touched a game in over a year... I have a huge backlog of games I bought on sale and none of them just really got me interested in getting started... I think it's because of time commitment that I just don't have like before.

And then i picked up Dave the Diver on sale a couple of weeks back. Now I'm playing a little every day.

44. I like playing some of them with the kids, especially first part Nintendo ones. Still like fifa for all its faults and the ufc games. Like retro style games as well.

Absolutely no interest in the dark souls type games or Elden ring that everyone loves. Just is not for me nor are CoD type games. Also really dislike the new college football games and maddens. They’re just too much and lost a lot of the simplicity and tightness of what made the ones great 20ish years ago.
