Come on, that’s the most boring part of that quote

“James told me there's an old saying here on Earth. 'May you be in Heaven half an hour before the Devil knows you're dead.' Not sure if Turian heaven is the same as yours, but if this thing goes sideways and we both end up there, meet me at the bar. I'm buying.”

Spot on analysis— ME1 has the nostalgia aspect even if the inventory was clunky as hell. 2 was a masterpiece of a game and 3 was some of the most fun I have every had in gaming for the first 39.5 hours.

The last 30 mins though. Ugh.

If you look at my mod list, you'll find a full four mods there to make the end of the game not suck

I'd just like to point out that thanks to this thread and some of you guys' input, I've started a full run back through the whole thing on my PS5. I've beaten 1 & 2 on PC but want to try it laid-back on the couch. I've still never even beaten 3 so I'm looking forward to seeing what all the fuss over the ending is about...

3 has the biotic and tech combos that make playing with a good setup shred everything in your path and it’s fun to try different companions. I always end up using Javik though because he’s such a monster.

ME is still one of the greatest games of all time.

Regardless of the ending it is my number two game series all time only behind Fallout

The journey to get to that ending is worth it for me

Mass Effect 1 completed.

Now to platinum ME2 on insanity.

Going infiltrator rather than adept this time.

Glad to hear you switched. Insanity in ME2 is already miserable; doing it as a nerfed as frick adept is masochistic

Yea, I have died multiple times already.

Katsumi’s quest is a bitch when you are fighting the ship.

Got the Legendary Edition for my replay. Just finished ME 2. Headed to 3

Definitely one of my favorite franchises out there

I know I talked about it earlier, but playing ME2 again after ME1, you really notice the massive changes.

I love the story of ME2, but the universe of ME1 just feels more “real”.

The fact that you get a “completion screen” after missions just makes it seem closed off.

Took me a hot minute to find the gif.

I don't game much anymore but this thread is tempting me to pop my ME1 cherry and replay ME2. ME2 is definitely in my top 5 GOATs. I don't remember any of the details, but I actually read the full descriptions of every planet that I discovered (even ones you couldn't visit). Some really good lore in there, and from what I recall some interesting science-based weirdness.

So, update.

ME2 is a substantially worse game overall when compared to ME1.

My opinion has changed over the years.

It is simply a shallow game. Everyone remembers the end, which elevates it, but it is colorfully painted sham as far as “rpg components” are concerned.

I am heavily disappointed in this game now that the nostalgia has worn off.

If you haven’t played it recently, play through ME1 and then play 2.

It is probably the best example of how EA changes perfect products into shiny subpar products.

I also cannot stand the change to “humor” in these games.

The first game had jokes, but it was a serious game. ME2’s tone just shifted too much towards “jokes”.

I finished ME and am at the mid-game of ME2 (Legendary Edition). The great thing for me is that my memory is so bad that I'm playing this for the first time for the second time.

I hate how they remodeled the Citadel. It's no longer an actual city, just segments of a city. Feels crappy compared with ME. I like the equipment management better (not having to micromanage inventory).

The jury is still deliberating on story. ME has the lead right now. I just got everyone on my team and am starting loyalty quests.

Completely agree.

It just seems so small now.

I actually dislike it.

There is no depth.

I should be more clear. Early in ME, I hated having to deal with an inventory that I had to selectively cull -- many times without full understanding of what to cull and why.

When I got to ME2, my initial reaction was "thank God I don't have to manage this stupid inventory". I don't disagree with you, but I'm willing to pay the generic squad upgrade game over the "do I sell the Spira Corporation Tier V sniper rifle or the Bancra Corporation Tier V sniper rifle" game?
