I just tried walking around a snowy area while wearing a warm doublet—didn’t go so well for me. Guess I need to also invest in food.

Yeah cooking 5 spicy peppers will give you 12 mins of cold resistance

I have a warm doublet and a ruby circlet that I'm hoping will work. I hope there's some kind of armor that will handle extreme cold like the armor that handles the heat on Death Mountain.

There is. It’s in a shop in one of the villages.

If I was you (or any UGA fan for that matter), I would have raged on Lynels or something until the sun came up

I saw a silver haired Lynel over near the dragon Dinraal. I ran away so fast lol. I think I'm gonna load up on some durian fruit and try to take him out.

Save your game right before you face him and just keep practicing. Need to get the timing right.

Does anyone know how to burn down a Shrine? I’ve just about had it with the tedious bullshite that is the Stop and Start Shrine in the DLC.

Edit: Just beat, but does anyone still know how to burn a Shrine. Just a bunch of cheap shite.

90% of the content is exploring. The dungeons and bosses are simple, so go climb some shite

I started this last night. So far my opinion is mixed. The world feels too big without enough in it to make it worthwhile.

The game literally feels like grinding shrines, go get mastersword, kill devine beasts, kill ganon.

If you aren't enjoying the exploration, climbing to new vantage points, and annotating your own map for the next place you'll explore, this game probably isn't for you. It's the definition of "its about the journey, not the destination."

I have some issues with the game, but the exploration and climbing isn't one of them.

Then you’re doing it wrong. The point is to go out, look around, wonder what is around the corner, think it will only take 10 minutes, and then 3 hours later you’re halfway across the map. It is much more about exploration and tactics. Enjoy the journey, go slay some Lynels, and climb mountains. That’s what it’s about.

No I would not say exploration is bad but exploration for the sake of it is No Man's SKy

You’re misinterpreting the game. That’s what it is.

I don't necessarily agree. You're comparing mostly bland, procedurally generated planets to a hand-crafted open world full of interesting things to see.

However, I'll admit that I've never actually played No Man's Sky. I've only watched others play it but I don't think "exploration for the sake of exploration" is an entirely bankrupt concept, assuming there are interesting things to find and do as a reward for the exploration. BOTW has that but No Man's Sky seems to rarely does.

Get the Hylian Shield and enjoy taking out Guardians by parrying their laser blasts back at them. After spending a lot of the early hours of the game running from those bastards, this was a lot of fun.

There is a ton of amazing hand crafted NPCs and Easter eggs in the game. It isn’t about stats or grinding.

Well it's fine for the first 10 hours or so, but there's not enough variation in art assets to make it much more interesting beyond that. If there was actually more things to see in the game it would be amazing.

I think in my time with BotW, I'm in awe of how large the world feels. In actuality, I don't think it's much larger than Skyrim, but it feels much larger.

I think it's because you have a much greater freedom of movement with the ability to climb virtually anything and use the glider to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. I haven't bumped into any invisible walls yet.

I just wish they would have populated this world with more things to actually do in it. In Skyrim, there are many visually distinct caves and tombs you can explore with different types of rewards at the end. Many of which are tied to optional side quests and some to the main story.

In BotW, there are only shrines, the entrances to which all look the same and the inside of which all look the same minus a different puzzle inside.

Most of the side quests that I have done are of the fetch quest variety. For example, collect 10 mosquitos or kill x enemies.

It's not a bad game at all though. I see it as a good launching point should they continue to expand on this style of gameplay. They just need to fill out the world a bit more like ES or Witcher 3 if they're going that route.
