Something you wish you knew from the start? Any settings to help maximize the experience?

Don't read up on anything and just go enjoy the world Nintendo created. Best way to play this game.

If you come to a puzzle where you have to move a ball through a maze using motion controls, just flip the board over and use the flat bottom instead of fricking with the maze

The rest of the game - figure it out as you go :)

Don’t ignore stamina. I’d build it up early.

This, stamina > hearts

That being said, don't completely ignore hearts as one of the best weapons in the game is tied up behind how many hearts you have

It is OK to run away from danger.

Learn how to use the ZL abilities effectively.

Do the first simple missions that are assigned to you for ease in exploration.

Your first weapon will break after 2 enemies. Rinse. Repeat.

I wish that I would've thought about doing that during that shrine.

When you first start cooking, it’s going to suck. But do it every time you get some down time. Do a little hunting and gathering. Mix and match ingredients and find what works.

You’re going to die a lot early and often.

Don’t rush anything with the story, but I would recommend clearing the Divine Beast in Zora’s domain just to get the ability. After that, I would just explore my tits off.

My 10 year old just picked it up with his pre Christmas money from relatives. He's been zoned out all night, annoying the wife. I've got to confess that I can't wait for him to go to bed, so I can switch over to my account and start a fresh game.
