With a dog as cute as that baby, who could say no?

(Well actually I bet Happy's is cold hearted enough to say no)

I'm moving to the area Monday and this happens!!!!

Ivars has high drink prices for a reason. And he knows he can get away with it.

I hope the new bar is not a Walk-On's type faux Irish Bar like Happys...

The overpass has too much character for a chain like that.

I know what will probably happen, and why...but I cant say it here.

Those clowns don't know how to do anything else. Why does it even have to be themed?

That's the whole charm of the place.

It could use a face lift. It's pretty much a dump.

Poor Bern Bern.

Guess he'll only be welcomed at Duvics now.

That was the reputation of it when it first opened. Word of mouth between cooks at different places is very much done and true.

Southdowns, although at times pricey and yes gritty, is one of last true great bar scenes in Baton Rouge. It's not riddled with annoying drunk youngsters, and it really hasn't bitten the corporate strip mall type bar/chain restaurant trend that has hit downtown and other places. It's the last true feel of bars with flavor. They are the places that haven't been soiled by shitty themes and gimmicks. They are simply bars that have "IT" per se...If it was up to Wank Off's INC, every bar in BR would be some shitty chain bar with sluts in outfits serving overpriced drinks...Say what you will about Ivars and Pat, but I would rather spend my dying days paying overpriced drinks from a dirty tap, then sell out to corporate bullshite bar that is one step down from a hooters.
Holy shite, where's the tylenol

I'm with ya. I'm obviously not into dirty taps ala Ivar's (which is why I do Bulldog for draft beer), but I enjoy the overpass area bars. Duvic's is one of my top bars in the city, and from Duvic's, I often end up at ZeeZee's. While Ivar's is quite expensive and dirty and I DO agree it could be cleaned up a bit, I have never had a bad time at Ivar's. The overpass area in general is hands down my favorite area in all of BR and I will be heartbroken if it loses the charm it has now.

Also.. being that the area between the overpass and Bulldog is the DUI-zone, could you imagine the rampant DUIs that would occur if a place that attracts the younger crowd came to overpass?

who goes to a neighborhood bar to eat!! most people live in the southdowns\garden district radius... which means they have food at their crib. it will be nice to have some better tvs for some LSU games.

Tell that to Chelsea's, Duvic's, Rock N Soki, George's and the other 10 places in the block that sell food and alcohol.

Yeah, that's actually my favorite area to eat.. (a) Because I think Chelsea's is god' gift to BR and (b) Because we can park the car and be out for the night without needing cabs.

I was a big fan of zee zee when I lived in br. nice people there. once the staff would get to know you, you could do just about whatever. they.would give me the remote to tv, stock of bottle if knob creek for me bc I asked, they would even walk to the store to buy ground meat to make a burger. ask for whiskey on the rocks and they fill the entire glass up with whiskey. and you could smoke cigs and order food at the same time.
