If the place has 50 taps of craft beer, they don't give a shite about the food.

Do you have an example of this? I have to admit, I'm more of a cocktail and wine person to begin with, so I will usually be ordering those anyway, but I can't really think of a place that would have a well procured wine and cocktail list and not have at least a couple of decent beers.

Sullivan's is a prime example.

That's not been the case in my experience.

That's an interesting premise.

There are exceptions, like Crystal Beer Parlor in Savannah, but I bet you are on to something.

Forgot about Chimes too.

So maybe not.

I'm not saying you need to have 30 taps or a huge bottle selection. But if your beer list is Bud Light, Miller Lite, Coors Light, Michelob Ultra, and Heineken, you're doing yourselves and your patrons a disservice. You can certainly mark up most craft beers at a higher rate than the domestics. I'll drink a few bottles of Canebrake at $5 per versus just sticking to water if you have nothing but BMC. It adds up.

I gotcha. It's certainly not too much work for a place to pick a few local brews to throw on the menu. I agree. I thought you mean something slightly more aggressive menu wise.

That being said, a BMC menu wouldn't keep me away from a good restaurant. To each his own.

That was meant for my friends, biggerbear and BMoney. Mission accomplished.

I kinda doubt it, but have no way to know.

Nah man, not everywhere anyway. Breweries around here have really good food.

Never order seafood at a steakhouse. Never order steak & a seafood joint.

You would think people would know this. But I've seen numerous people make this mistake and act surprised at how bad their meal was.

If it's a steakhouse, I'm probably going to drink whiskey anyway. But for other types of places, I prefer having the choice of good beer or good cocktails. It wouldn't necessarliy eliminate me from going to a place, but it would eliminate it as I would recommend.

I kind of agree on the overpriced, but you don't enjoy hanging with your boys at a nice steak place every so often?

I tend to agree. The vast majority of steakhouses are boring with several exceptions. La Boca, Doris M.

If they don't serve booze or let me bring my own booze or sneak me a hard cider in a plastic tea glass I'm out.

Waffle House exception to my rule.

Most restaurants are dealing with distribution so that can be part of the craft beer problem although in recent years distribution has been picking up more. And restaurants are getting more in tune with the high end beer crowd and are realizing what they are missing out on. I believe this problem will become less and less as time goes on.

I almost agree, but if the food is good enough I will go and have a cocktail instead
