the wikipedia entry on the worlds fair in NOLA makes me sad that i missed it...I was 14 so that means I spent 3 months of summer plus christmas in Louisiana that year, I am surprised It didnt register with me but I'll bet Granny and Grandpa would have been worried about driving in for it...they started to have an irrational fear of New Orleans back in the early 80's

PP's La Kitchen.

my wife has a binder filled with her family's recipes (even though she doesn't cook... ). I'm sure she'd send me back into the fire to get it...

I have fond memories of the 84' worlds fair in NOLA. good times.

Good choice. It's as much of a culinary encyclopedia as cookbook.

I have a photo copy of a Warren Le Ruth cook book that an aunt gave to me for Christmas. At the time,I had looked for years and could not find it in print. For those that don`t know,he was a chef and a food scientist. He did a lot of recipe development for restaurants and food manufacturers. The unique thing about the book is that everything is so simple, almost like he is holding back some of the ingredients! It`s as if someone said, you could make a lot of money if you wrote a cook book, and so he did. To be honest,I have read the book, but never tried any of the recipes, might pull it out and see if something catches my eye.

I'm from Maryland and knew that N.O. had a World's Fair. Like most World's Fairs, it was a fiscal disaster. Any construction come out of it?

The entire Warehouse district is the actual legacy of the World's Fair.

I would save the one that I have the insides cut out to the size of large American currency. For obvious reasons. Also have to save the freezer for that box of Gordon's Fish Sticks that is actually filled with "frozen assets."

Bill Jefferson ain't the only genious around. Other people got some smarts too.
