yes, why? im from new orleans. i realize these types of bars can and do work.

for every avenue pub type place in nola, theres 100 other bars that are selling primarily BMC and making a killing.

and how many places in nola are on avenue pub's level?

How many bars have tried to do what the avenue pub is doing and have gone out of business? Zero

How many bars do what every other bar in NOLA is doing and goes about of business? A few every year.

Just sayin

Well I'm on my phone, but tomorrow ill break down your logic and expose the inherent flaws in it.

And again...I'm referring to the majority, which is what I would assume is the case until specified differently by OP.

how many places are actually doing it though? its easy to say no one has failed when you havent even given me a number that has tried. have 10 tried and succeeded? 20? 2? zero..?

this doesnt reflect on whether the bar serves BMC or not. youre talking about a city with hundreds and hundreds of places to drink. with that many bars and people trying to open bars, of course people are going to fail.

fwiw we/I were talking about Baton Rouge

just saying what?

youre throwing out random numbers to make points.

youre response to my post was asking if i have ever been to the avenue pub. that came across like you didnt have anything really to say to argue your point

youre also making very general statements to further your point

To go into more detail with the question, it's for a bar with daiquiri machines that's adding a full food menu.

It's a real place. There will be bud light, colors light, miller light, and ultra. One tap will be a St Arnold beer because they paid for parts. We will use Tin Roof on at least one tap.

I asked this here because I love beer, but I mostly drink Bud Light. I've tried lots of local and non local craft beers. I don't get the love for Canebrake, and it seems like the Yats are just NOLA fan boys because I wasn't blown away.

I appreciate the passion on the board for beer and wanted to ask.

Thanks for the responses.

This is an oxymoron.

Okay, mostly fricking with you.

If you're going to have 11 taps, and devote 4 of them to BMC, 1 to Saint Arnold, and 1 to Tin Roof, then you're not going to want to go crazy on the other 5. You're not going to pull beer geeks in for 5 taps unless you're really getting some crazy good stuff.

Just go with 5 local taps... Canebrake, Hopitoulas, Abita Amber, and rotate the other two between local stuff or Lazy Mag.

Have you had Irish Channel Stout? It's fantastic.

Pretty simple, We had some modifications to make and they picked up the tab to get their product in our place.

It's the way the world works.

Honestly man, if you have 11 taps and you devote 4 to BMC (bud miller coors), you are wasting your money. You can easily get bottles of that stuff, and you wouldn't block up precious tap space with cheap shite.

If you want to attract people who like good beer, then BMC in your taps won't do it. Also, NOLA is a great brewery, and if you are making decisions on what taps to have, based on your personal preference, when you say you mostly drink bud, then you aren't going to attract anyone who appreciates good beer. Just saying. Best of luck to you though.

If it was by my personal preference I wouldnt be here asking. I'm garnering info from several sources. This board which I was a member of before I was an operator being one of them.

On a side note, you guys who constantly make it a point to say bud light or other major brand drinkers don't like beer, you come across like beer hipsters.

I'm 35, abd in my formative years Shiner and a few others were the only 'microbrews'. I have tried lots and lots and lots of beer. I've been in this industry my entire life. I also drink copious amounts of beer at a time. I like bud light, the price is right its not too heavy and it's consistent. Gets me drunk, doesn't mean I don't know a tasty small batch beer when I have one. Means I'm not spending the money on those beers every time I want to catch a buzz.

We may not have BMC on our taps, it's a fluid situation and it can change quickly. I just want some input, preferably without snobbery.

Very true. In the area I mainly bar hop it's surprising how many bars don't even have taps and these places are making a killing.

This will be a small portion of what we do.

Bug thanks for the well wishes. I hope to get some of the crew from around here to check the place out when we get rolling. We are close to opening so stay tuned if you're interested

if I was to open a bar, I would try to separate myself from every other bar in the city. I would offer the best beer that I could possibly get.

if you're just going to have the same beers as every bar in the city, what makes your bar different from the others?
