Ask him about stuffing his wife's artichoke!

Asking about how much he likes tossed salads. He’s fallen for that one on the air at least twice

He manages to convince himself daily that he had a great show even though he just babbled nonsense for 2 hours.

what is this tailgating and football you speak of"?
He hates football(probably all sports). Years ago when I listened to him he would regularly make comments about his wife and daughter going to Saints games, etc. and almost mock them for going or watching the games.
The other day someone called asking how to cook a single piece of catfish in a pan. He answered by telling her the best way for catfish was fried, but then he had it made with a meuniere sauce.... and that is now just delicious.
The girls was like "Okay so back to how do I cook this catfish..."
Not sure if he is reading and not paying attention, or if it's dementia or something.

That was this past Saturday and I do agree it was awkward

His memory loss/early onset dementia whatever it is, has been going on for over a year, but has definitely gotten worse. I listened to most of his show this past Saturday, and he will literally get in the middle of a sentence and forget what he was talking about.
He also told 2 different callers on Saturday who asked about fried shrimp, that he doesn't think shrimp is something you should ever fry because it's never good. Have listened to him for many years and whenever he was asked in the past about where to get a good shrimp poboy or seafood platter, he never expressed this. Just found it odd.

Yep

He does this too during the week only with way fewer callers. I don’t think the HD radio thing got as big as he thought it would be.

I made a thread about him a few months back. It's actually kinda sad how bizarre he has become.
The episode I referenced in my thread he couldn't remember his own phone number, kept calling restaurants the wrong name, and then recommended a restaurant to a caller after which time he acted like he had never heard of the restaurant he just recommended.

He's bad
They should bring in chefs from around the city to co-host with him. Or just fire him right out and bring new blood to host the show.

I recall your thread. I agree about it being bizarre now. Makes you wonder if the people at the radio station notice that.
Someone called recently about one of the restaurants that used to sponsor the show a couple of years ago and he didn’t recall anything about it.

Makes me legit angry every single time. Time for new blood in the NOLA critic scene.

Yes, don’t you dare say “poboy”!!!

Or someone who isn't dismissive of Vietnamese food, or actually knows the difference between Salvadoran, Guatemalan, and Mexican food. Ask about mid/late 20th century NOLA food, and he's fine. Just don't move into the 21st century, or act as though any additional waves of immigrants to NOLA beyond the Italians have made culinariy contributions to local food culture.
Are there any decent NOLA food podcasts?
