Or throw away a turkey that has been in deep freezer for 10 months? I know turkeys are cheap, but dont like to waste. Thanks!

Cook the damn thing and eat it up. As long as it was packaged right, and assuming in the original shrink wrap, it's still good to go.

Put it in your fridge to defrost for about 2-3 days prior to cooking depending on how big it is so it is defrosted safely.

Maybe this is wrong, but I will eat stuff after just about any time in my freezer. I had gumbo from last October last week.

And I'm otherwise weird about food safety.

Many of the turkey’s that will soon be in grocery stores are the same ones that were in the grocery freezer box last year.

100%. If the texture is off, I would debone and use in soups or casseroles, but I’m 99% sure it’s going to taste just fine.

I found a whole chicken from 2024 when I was getting out a pork butt (from 2025), injected it and smoked it last Friday and it was perfect. What are you worried about?

I'd cook it as long as it's not freezer-burnt. I recently cooked some antelope that was in the freezer for 7 years and it was muy bueno.
