How are you guys getting these reservations? I know you get online through reservation services such as Tock or Resy. But it seems like every time I get online to make these reservations it's impossible to get a reservation anywhere with two or more Michelin stars. Is there a secret to getting these reservations made?

For Osteria Francescana, they open reservations 4 months in advance for the entire month. We woke up at 3:45am and refreshed the queue and were able to get the dates we wanted.

Others have been much less complicated, but it usually involves planning in advance. I don’t remember Inn and Little Washington or Piazza Duomo being hard to book.

The 50 best list is garbage. Cosme has no business being on that list. Their signature dish is duck carnitas. Don't get me wrong, they are good, but they are nothing more than fricking duck tacos. Nothing at all compared to the top restaurants in NYC.

I had a great experience at Cosme. But to each their own.

Because based on the size of the portions, I am going to leave starving.

After 8-10 courses of that portion size, I can guarantee that you will not leave hungry.

A ton of these chefs have 2nd restaurants that are amazing but not quite as crazy expensive as the flagship tasting menu place.

Personally, I usually opt for those.

Agreed, we went to a famous chef's restaurant in Lisbon and I enjoyed the non michelin star restaurant much more. we went to both Tapisco and Alma in Lisbon. Alma is a michelin star restaurant, that to be honest, I feel like you have to have an extremely sophisticated pallet to truly enjoy. His second restaurant Tapisco was much better to me and one of the best places we ate on the whole trip.

First of all, at these tasting menu places you're getting anywhere from 7 to as many as 20 of these. So most of the time you are fine.

2nd, its more about the experience rather than "getting full". Some of these places have just an amazing experience, from the moment you walk in the door. All senses activated, with some truly unforgettable tastes, textures, service, etc. Some people don't do this to "get full".

As I have said, I have often done the "sister" restaurant to many of these places that is more a la cart and not tasting menu, and have loved them.

Come on. I get that these types of places aren't for everyone, and there's nothing wrong with that, but this type of criticism borders on willful ignorance (and a celebration of that ignorance).

I haven't been to #13 Don Julio, but I've been to a ton of steak houses in downtown Buenos Aires and they are consistently outstanding.

Our table was on wheels so when a waiter would see you sort of shift to get up from the table they come out and move it.

This seems really annoying

It’s really not. Kind of has to be seen functioning to be believed. I might not have done the best job explaining it. They don’t move it much

I couldn’t place top 10 in the TD challenges. Not to mention I can’t figure out how to post pics efficiently. Haha!

hit #40 last night ... interesting enough experience hampered by Bangkok's current no booze sales in restaurants. Many establishments are ignoring the rule, but the owners of the clinical German spot were a little less bending. As expected, some incredible bites and service.

The price tag was reasonable ... $250 for two and the building was beautiful. Glad to go to my first top 50, but that particular evening is best for a one off affair. I can always get a michelin style experience with $10 in Chinatown ... which makes this city so amazing.
