Bump for Thanksgiving prep. I’m enjoying this one a lot.

I almost bumped myself.

Just got a great Cote du Rhone. Good acidity, super try. Dark fruit and spice flavors. 13.99 at Total wine. Brotte 2016 Creation Crossett Cairanne.

I have a Beaujolais for tomorrow.

I went into the wine shop planning on grabbing one.

Grabbed 4 cabernets. What can I say, I like what I like.

Always like a good Zin for Thanksgiving. Also have an Amarone, a white Burgundy and a white Rhone.

In laws insisted on cooking this year, all I was tasked with was dessert. Making emerils banana cream pie. No cooking means more drinking. Cheers all

I'll be opening up some Whole Cluster Pinot for the meal. Nothing too crazy. Tonight I'll be going to a friend's house and the dad has a wine cellar in the basement filled with Italian reds

Montepulciano from Abruzzo. Never knew it was a grape
I didn't know that either. I started to correct you to tell you that Montepulciano is a picturesque hill town in Tuscany where they make delicious wines with the Sangiovesse grape. I know it is because I was there two years ago. But I looked it up and saw that it is also the name of a grape grown further south in Italy. I have had that wine before but always thought it was a Tuscan wine that couldn't make the cut to be called Vino Nobile de Montepulciano. Now I know. I will have to try another bottle.

Picked up a magnum of that Morgon 2019. Gonna save it for a long leisurely lunch at some point. Love that wine.

I'm opening one of these up as I type this. It's Sangiovese

The grape is a really good house wine to have around

I know this wine is wildly popular, but I’ve never had it, so starting here tonight.

After that.. Man, I stood at the Italian wine shelf for a solid 15 minutes with no idea what to get. So I grabbed the label I liked

Edit - Holy shite this is pretty good for $25. Small production (3600 cases) think it’s 60/40 cab/merlot from oakville region.

This is becoming one of my house wines. Approx $17 a bottle. Wonderful wine perfect for some of the Louisiana heartier braises, stews and gumbos. Domaine de la Janasse Reserve

Folks, the Riddler is damn good at $18.99
Dark in color, dark ruby to medium purple
Fruit forward for sure
Black cherry, pepper, leather, earth
Dry
A bit more tannic than smooth
Slightly acidic
Lasting finish
