Odd location but it’s a gem of a place, and Jim is almost too nice.

It’s one of my favorite places and yes, he is insanely nice and he remembers everyone. And he knows his shite.

I really hope it survives because I love the place.

Hitting a 2018 La Chapiniere touraine.

Lots of apple and citrus. Refreshing. Similar to a Sancerre.

Also hitting an orange. Skins 2018 White Blend. Powerful with apricots and orange.

Can you give us a list of 10 wines that are just downright shameful?

I can safely add Cupcake.

While the sun is up and the smoker is rolling - a refreshing Assyrtiko by way of Clare Valley in southern Australia. Only producer of assyrtiko in AUS. Sucking down a few oysters with it. Have a Beaujolais and Grenache on deck

I’m so uninterested that I’ve never bought the first bottle. But, I’m sure it’s a wine. It better be at $18-20

Ended up going with 2012 Campo Viejo Rioja Gran Reserva because it sounds interesting. Also got a Chandon Brut Rosé for the wife since it was a favorite experience in Napa.

Not to say that age and price share a direct correlation, but I’ve always wondered why this wine is so inexpensive.

I used to see it at Rouses for around $12

Is it any good?

It was $16 where I was at, and they usually have good prices.

It’s fine. Nothing special but it’s a fine wine for the price

Yeah it'll be a who's who list of what pays my bills.

Basically 90% of what you'd see on top of IRI/Neilsen data in the under $15 category.

Meiomi tastes like it has a pat of butter in it.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good starter Pinot--but search out others. North Coast, Sonoma, Willamette from Oregon (closest to a burgundian style--has some funk).

Try smaller producers--they can be found at similar price points as the mass produced wine.

Research!

I have some corks and empty bottles from key nights in my life (engagement, etc.) that are several years old and predate any serious interest in wine

And man are there some duds among those "mementos"

It’s been a couple years. You tell me.

Had some delicious Chianti Classico tonight at one of the four Baton Rouge Italian staples.

It was pretty damn good.

Spanish blend of mainly of Grenache with some Syrah. Slightly chilled. Great little summer drinker, pairs well with BBQ
