Wine fridge/cooler advice

I have one. Single zone. No problems.

I have a cheap 12 bottle single zone stand-alone. I like having it. A dual zone would be nice too, but probably cost a lot more.

Mine never stays full for long.

I don't think a dual temp zone is a necessity, in fact I think that kind of stuff is grossly over rated. You want something that will keep a steady temperature in the 55-65 degree range. And even then, that is if you're going to be laying bottles down for years. I have a 120 bottle unit in my house that I bought in 2003 for $900 or so. I think it's made by Franklin or some no name brand. I have friends with VinoTemp and EuroCave units and they've been happy with them. Most of my stuff is at an off site storage facility in Oakland (still, a year and a half after moving back to LA!). I've been thinking about moving it here but there's no place to store it in Lafayette and I don't feel like shelling out $10K to buy enough storage units to store it. I need to buy a house and build a cellar. Sorry, I'm rambling.

Cuisinart 16-Bottle is perfect ($200). You do not need a dual temp unit as you want to store both red and white at 50-55 degrees.

If you're planning on drinking the wine within a year or two, it doesn't make a difference. What you want to avoid is wide swings in temperature, vibration and long exposure to intense light.
