Has anyone been to Willa Jean, the new bakery/restaurant in the South Market from the Besh Restaurant Group? If so, 1) how was it and 2) any new restaurant issues?

The sell the chocolate espresso cookies (in larger form) that you get at the end of a meal at Domenica. Went there yesterday to get a few. The space looks great. Will definitely head there for lunch soon.

went there last weekend. its definitely a neat space. Has a nie bar area and very roomy. We just got some coffee and pastries. Everything we had was top notch. I want to go back and try some of the regualr fare and not just baked goods.

Went there last weekend for brunch. All the food was great but the service was pretty bad. Ordered two black coffee's that took about 15 minutes to get to our table and one drink from the bar that showed up as our entrees came out. I'm sure that will improve though. Even if the service stayed as bad as it was I'd still go for the food. Favorite item was the crab fritters.

We really enjoyed it, as did my folks. However, get them a week or two to get the service kinks worked out.

Thanks everyone, sounds like a great spot. I'll go investigate for lunch later this week and report back.

i had the same experience. Took forever to get black coffees that are 3 dollars a piece. don't ask for a refill or else you get charged another 3 dollars per. The dine in entrees were good but really expensive for scrambled eggs and pancakes. Pastries are really good though

Walked by and they had what looked like a line waiting to order at a counter.

did some research, apparently there is counter service for coffee and pastries, etc, and table service for meals. Was it crowded?

It looked crowded, but it was mid-day on a weekday. I was headed to try Blaze next door.
Last Saturday night it didn't look crazy busy, but LSU was playing.
