ML was ok as a poor college student or in an icechest while fishing, but I'm in a position in life to afford good beer now so I'd hardly buy that swill.

that's not a great parallel you're trying to draw there.
A more apropos example would be around if he still eats at a place like McDonald's, or only gets burgers at "good places".

And generally speaking, a food/drink message board that has people who mostly like good beer isn't the place for people to start threads about shite beer and then have people get pissed about people defending shite beer.
And yes, I drink my fair share of BMC products at crawfish boils, fishing trips, the beach, etc.
