Grandmother made them for family gatherings. Used mayonnaise. I didn't particularly care for mayonnaise or cold, shredded cheese growing up, so I received a pear with a cherry.

Guess they work too, Neauxla. But we always had pear halves.

My MIL made them for every holiday meal. I loved them. My husband wouldn't touch them, though.

Mayo, not cottage cheese.

Oh and no cherries on hers, either.

I love beets and Brussels sprouts.

And the cheddar needs to be sharp cheddar to really offset the pear and mayo. I want some right now!

My mom made them. Pear half, mayo and shredded cheddar. No cottage cheese. I have eaten dozens of them while growing up.

Oh god no, I remember this. One of my great-grandmothers would make this when we went out to the country to visit them. Just give me the pear without ruining it, please.

The best thing she made that you never see anymore is crawfish bisque. Very labor intensive but sonofabitch it was good.
My dad and I made a point of making a batch (complete with stuffed shells) at least once a year after my grandmother passed. It's not the same, but at least it's good.

Mine did. I freaking loved them. Will still make them for myself on occasion.
always pear or pineapple, mayo (which I hate on everything else), and sharp cheddar.

I used to love these growing up.

I tried pineapple pizza for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it reminded me of pineapple and cottage cheese. So so good.

Are those pears? My mom used to make those. I still remember the little dishes she'd put them in.

I loved the cherries but wasn't a fan of the cheese and stuff.

I could tear up a can of sliced pears though!

I forgot about these things.
