Their Facebook post about closing blamed it on "staffing issues." Chick Fil A pays workers up to $19 hr starting wage in some locations.
That's a staffing issue that can be solved by the owners. To not be able to staff a restaurant that serves one item in a college town, is totally the fault of the management.
If you want a reliable staff, pay them enough to get quality people.

The people posted frequently on their private facebook that they couldn't hire anybody... but they didn't pay enough for the current market. They probably could have raised pay, marked up that pay 20% and upped their prices and stayed in business IF THEY WANTED. I don't think they wanted to stay open.

Owner didn't want to increase pay, plain and simple. When employees left for higher-paying jobs, owner claimed they weren't "loyal."

Because people got tired of pizzas tasting like cigarette ash, I guess. Like most “old” restaurants with stubborn owners, you need to change with the times or get left behind. Fleur de Lis was pretty gross.

The owner’s attitude, ATM, wait times, and parking have all been brought up but I’ve never heard complaints about the actual pizza.
FWIW I always had good experiences - apparently someone got yelled at for taking a shot of whiskey instead of sipping it… sounds like an urban legend.

They definitely did not evolve. But they ran a business for 76 years. How much longer do they need to keep going for y’all to consider them a success? 76 years is a good run, no?
As mentioned, they didn’t evolve, they ran on cruise control for 2 decades. They could have easily improved. Not every person’s goal is to keep a business going. Some people are happy making a living and then hanging it up. Seems like that’s what they did. They provided a living for their family and then rode off into the sunset.

Seems like the exact opposite since the reason they closed is because of 'staffing issues' and not 'we are old and want to retire'.
