Back to my 1PD for a moment. I guess my palate has changed over the years but I just don’t enjoy Blantons as much as I used to. Maybe this is a subpar barrel, but I haven’t been liking it.

What are your thoughts on that martins pick of the senator? Is it a sweet or spicy rye? I’ve debated grabbing me one for a while now, but I generally only like the sweet ryes.

I need to pick up a rye. Rittenhouse is the only rye I've had. Which of these would y'all recommend?

Grab either Bulleit or Sazerac. Both are awesome for around $20.

I like Rittenhouse a good bit more than Sazerac. Since you've had that, I'd move up to the high west double rye. That's widely available for low 30s. Willett rye happens to be my favorite, but has a very distinct flavor profile. I wouldn't jump to that price point without trying some of the 20-35 dollar options first.

I would recommend Rare Breed Rye, I like it more than Willet (I still like Willet though).

Rare breed seems to be about ten bucks higher than willett on average, at least around here. I also think it has some of the classic turkey profile,which might appeal more to people who are mainly into bourbon. It's really good though and might be a safer choice. I have multiple bottles of both.
I'm jealous of the OF BS rye. That's one I've been unable to get my hands on.

Midget this Martin pick Senator Rye is outstanding to me. It’s both sweet and spicy at the same time but very well balanced. Beautiful spice caramel nose and long finish.

Out of this list I’d get the Willett but as someone said above it does have a distinct taste. I really enjoy it though. If you want to step into the $50 range, if Martins still has a barrel pick bottle of their SB Sagamore I’d jump all over it. Metairie had a few last time I was there. Can’t go wrong with Rare Breed Rye and I’m seeing that bottle everywhere now but it’s gonna be upper $50s.
