If going up I49, hop off at the 138 and drive to Maggios in Natchitoches.

They have huge amounts of BT, as well as tons of other great bottles. Maggios is a hidden gem.

I can't seem to find Buffalo Trace in the BR area. I see everyone saying Rouses has it but I check Rouses / Juban frequently and they never have it. Do they have it at Drusilla?

Pretty sure the Rouse's on airline has a big display between the wine and the butcher counter full of BT.

I see it in stores for $200-$300. Overpriced as hell, without ever tasting it.

Hey Bus aren’t you a Springbank fan? I came across these today at Dorignac’s. Was curious your thoughts on their price point. I passed since I’ve never tried them. I tend to want to sample something at some point before I drop that kind of money on it.

I feel like I have seen the 15 sell around the $110-120 range, but my memory could be off. I do know Dorignacs is famous for price gouging, so I would not trust either of those prices.

Bus is definitely the one to know

Sorry to hijack, but any discussion of Irish Whiskeys in this thread? Or anyone remember one on here? I just recently wanted to buy a few bottles and try it, so far I've only had one bottle of Teeling Small Batch.

I've tried way more bourbon than Irish Whiskey, but my personal favorite is Redbreast. I've had the 12, 15, and Lustau. Haven't bought or tried the cask strength yet.

I'd pick up a bottle of the 12 before dropping money on any others to see if you like the taste as far as cost goes.

That seems about par for the course for Dorignac’s. Their markup on good bottles is usually $15-$20

The last few times I saw the Springbank 15, it was closer to the $140-150 range than the $110 they had been on the shelf for.

1PD. Having myself another Starlight night. This is a craft distillery worth checking out. I highly recommend them.

This one definitely benefits from a touch of water though. Comes in hot for its 105 proof, and that ethanol masks many flavors. Water opens it up tremendously

Haven't drank this in a long while. Found on back of shelf. Still as tasty as I remembered it.

When I can find Springbank 15 here in Houston, it's $110. Used to be 100-105 but went up a bit. When Martin Wine has the SB 15, I think they sell it for $130ish. SB 21 I know Calandro's has one for either $450 or $475. I think when Specs had it, it was around $380.

For reference the Springbank 18 was $180 in Houston two years ago and is now $220.

All Springbank/Campbeltown scotches are scarce these days though. They didn't produce a ton of volume even before being shut down half the year for COVID.

Redbreast 12 is a very solid irish whiskey. I'd also recommend picking up a single malt irish like a Knappogue Castle or a Sexton, which is going to have a different taste than the RB.
