I got the old standby Dickel 12 going
This week I had a drink of Pappy 15 neat and paid beau coup for it. The 23 was even more $$$.
It was ok but not significantly better than Dickel 12 for me to pay any premium for it in the future let alone the outrageous amount I paid for that 15 this week.
I have never found expensive wine that spectacular either. If I find a bourbon significantly better that Dickel 12 I will happily pay it but I haven’t found it yet.
I suppose my taste are simply not very sophisticated.

Smoke with some smoke. 2PD (1st was a TA Saz with some ginger ale). Enjoying the outdoors while some chicken andouille gumbo sinners on the stove inside

It’s good and has that unique mineral water note that’s cool but overall it’s not that complex of a bourbon. I find something like Russel Reserve 13 or the Willet 10 year rye to be a much more interesting dram and expression of the lower end versions of those barrels.

Someone recommended the Mission a few years back from the FDB. We went with a big group, and it did not disappoint. Everything was excellent.
