I was a little kid when that was happening. We were always excited when Walter Cronkite told us he got another.

What is a good scotch to gift ~$80?
Something similar to macallan 18 without the high cost, if something like that exists

Just made the wife a forbidden sour with bourbon and pama. Added some fresh blackberries and muddled. Hopefully she has a few of these!

FPD out the infinity bottle. Going outside for a bit, so big pour with some ice and insulated.

Family full, wife happy, now it’s time to treat myself. After cooking up filets with herb butter and truffle salt for 8 along with carrot soufflé, grilled asparagus, grilled corn and mashed potatoes then cleaning up everything, my back and feet hurt and this is a welcome treat. This bitch needs to get back to her motherly duties. I don’t understand how she keeps up. I’m spent!

I don’t know squat about whiskey or scotch or bourbon. I’m a basic beer/cerveza and tequila type. But I want to try something different. I don’t like anything that is harsh tasting, if that makes sense. I like something that can be on the sweet side. How or where should I start as a beginner?

Angels Envy Rye. It’s pricy ($80), but it’s exactly what you are looking for. Pour it, let it sit for 10 minutes then smell. The maple syrup will stand out in both smell and flavor. Very easy and tasty whiskey

Old Forester 1910 would do you good.

I’ll keep that in mind. And thank you. But if I were to go with something under $40, what would you suggest? I also enjoy cigars so I’m looking for a good combo.

Maybe a woodford reserve. They may be just a little over 40. The double oak is easy Peezy
