It’s definitely on the sweeter side for a rye.

Not my cup of tea, but I could see how it’s approachable to some.

Our Whiskey Wednesday this week was all Old Soul. The wheat, high rye, something with sorghum in the bill and the Tintype. No one I talked to liked any of them much. The Tintype was pretty good, but the price is crazy for that. The Sorghum one was certainly interesting and the different note was not a negative to me, but was for others. I will not be revisiting any of them.

What did you think of the JD Single Barrel Rye? I saw a bottle of it on clearance for $25 and snatched it up but haven't popped it open yet. Does it have much heat at all at that lower proof?

I found 1792 sweet wheat in a small liqueur store in Miramar beach last night. Love this bottle. No heat.

What year was it bottled and how much you want for it?

One of my favorites. I didn't get the BP since I'm not ready for the heat, so this one is perfect. I'm slowly working up to the higher proofs, so I'll be trying the BP sooner rather than later

Publix liquor store on Ana Maria Island, FL. They had a small rack with a bunch of random shite on clearance in there and this was one of them. Nothing else noteworthy.

What warehouse for the Russell’s?

ETA: IMO if it’s a CN, then the Russell’s will win, if it’s Tyrone or something like that then probably the Knob

I just got one from CN which is a plus but it’s a Total Wine pick so it probably fricking sucks. I’ll let you know when I crack it.

Zuppardos pick. I grabbed two months ago. Tapping into the second one now.

Tyrone Warehouse
Just shy of 10 years

I can’t make an argument over Camp Nelson vs Tyrone. Haven’t blind tested them. Rather not fall in what everyone says without testing them myself

Overall, I prefer Rare Breed and Russells Single Barrel over the more common Buffalo Trace products. Col Taylor is my BT preferred bottle.
