I had a glass of Weller 12 right before this and the difference to me is huge. The Old Rip is noticeably better

In BR for the weekend. Where should I go hunting? I assume Alexander's or calandros but not sure if anywhere else and which one of those 2 has a better selection. Also, never been to either, so not sure which locations are better than others. Probably only have time to go to one place, so want to maximize the chances if getting some good stuff I can't find around my area of Houston. The Alexander's ec12 is something I am interested in because I ran out of ec12 this week.

Eta: any help from the local gurus is greatly appreciated in advance.

Go to Alexanders. If your lucky they may have 1 or 2 of their EC12 left. But if your hunting for fall release stuff dont waste your time anywhere in BR. I heard Cuban has a JPS18 for the low low price of $429. losers...

If you do swing by there's one EC12 left but ask the girl at the desk that your's is in the liquor backstock room. The EC on the shelf is regular stuff.

is there some special release going on for Elijah Craig 12? the last bottle I bought had the name of my store on it, too. I didn't even realize it until I got home, but it tasted the same to me.

It's a barrel select program. They get samples from a few barrels and pick the one they like best and get the whole barrel bottled for them with their name. Essentially, it's a single barrel release of what is usually a small batch bourbon. It will often taste largely the same with some small differences.
