Just south of Boston

We spent the last week on an island just south of Rockland Maine. Highs in the low 70's, lows in the 50's. MUCH brown water consumed. Hard to come back to 100 degrees/ 100% humidity.

Yeah, you right!
FWIW, sipping a whiskey smash. Muddled lemon, mint leaves with 1 oz curaçao,2 oz BT, shaken and served over crushed ice. Refreshing!

That sounds it. We need some good refreshing cocktails for those yeti short stacks that will be hitting soon.

I agree.
I like the smash(above), the whiskey soda w/lemon and Peychaud's, the Gin sour, and the Hemmingway daiquiri (Bayou rum). All great thirst quinchers.

Too hot for the high proof for me. Might 'splode or somethin'. Spontaneous combustion or the like. It is pushing HAZMAT afterall.

I kinda suck a writing reviews. I don't ever taste the "hints of orange with toasted hazelnut butter finish" or whatever. I just choose on my own palate and what I like best.

From Least Favorite to Most Favorite (Score out of 10)
Stagg (2): It really isn't very good. It is so sharp it rips my face off. Flavor is OK but I can't drink it.
Elijah Craig (5): Not bad, not great. Decent flavor. Reasonable sharpness as a barrel proof. Just a solid pour
Bookers: (6): Less sharp than ECBP and a bit more depth of flavor.
Wild Turkey tie (7): By far the most distinctive flavor. Tasted significantly different than all the others. Quite a bit sharper than the Four Roses.
Four Roses tie (7): Smoothest by a lot. Not quite as full flavored as the Wild Turkey or the Old Scout
Old Scout (8.5). Great blend of deep flavors with a reasonable sharpness. Edges out Four Roses with more flavor although not as mellow.

Very cool break down SMS. I would have to agree with most of your rankings, I would put Bookers above Rare Breed though personally. 4 Roses is my favorite too for barrel proofs but I've never had Old Scout barrel so I couldn't weigh in on that.

Glad you like the 4 Roses though. I'm excited to try the rest of the mashbills with you and see how you like them.
