How did I do bro’s? Just getting into cocktails and figured I would do an old-fashioned the right way. You guys have inspired me. Four roses smallbatch barrel select old-fashioned with my blood orange rind. Clear ice ball

Nice looking ball you got there lol.

I have only been able to get real 100% clear ice I swing Wintersmiths molds. What did you use?

I have a Wintersmiths Phantom Mini. Makes 3 beautifully clear ice spheres at a time.

You should enjoy bourbon the way you like it. I'm kinda new to the game. But, FRSBS in a cocktail, for me, seems a shame. Sure, you want to use a quality whiskey for an Old Fashion. But, less expensive whiskeys are normally used. Anything you add to bourbon will affect its flavor profile. The yeast strain, mashbill, and aging flavors will be masked. I know several people who use Bullit, which is less than half the cost of FRSBS.

You do you, Buddy. I don't like ice or water in my bourbon. And, I've never had a Manhattan.

Yep, that's the only brand I have had success with! I have the ice chest that makes 4 that I got several years ago. I like the new ones they have and the different sizes. I'll have to upgrade when I have a moment. I can get them wholesale now so I can save a few bucks for ones intrested when the time comes.

While I do agree I typically use cheaper bourbon to mix, good bourbon added to a mix will change the drink's profile. For instance...I like to use Thomas Handy for OF and sazeracs. They are delicious and will fuk you up fast

I am just not a huge fan of ice balls..I prefer smaller ice cubes. I like to taste the way the whiskey changes in the glass as the ice melts

Most of the time I drink whiskey neat though

I've never seen a bottle of TH to buy. I do get your point, though. Apparently, you have the avenues and means to enjoy your passions.

I like ice balls (boy that sounds bad ) in my OF mostly. The real clear ones dont melt that fast and help keep things cool.

I think I have burned off the taste buds on the tip of my tongue with all the neat bourbon I have drank lol. I will put a little ice or water in these days.

I have had a THH old fashioned and a ORVW old fashioned, and they were probably two of the best old fashioneds that I’ve ever had.
Generally I’m a BT OF guy, but sometime it’s nice to just spice up the OF

These picks are getting more and more ridiculous with the labels and boxes:

What do you think is the average price of a pour of PVW 23 at a restaurant. I was a place in Auburn the other night and noticed they had it for $90. Place I ate tonight in Auburn had it for $41.
Thought that was a pretty big discrepancy for places within walking distance of each other knowing they both paid the exact same price for the bottle.
