PreCovid I was at about 5 bottles of liquor total. I liked bourbon but never had any at home because I hated drinking at home. Starting watching Mad Men, then Peaky Blinders after and felt like I always needed a cocktail while watching. Covid strikes and I start trying all kinds of bourbons. I’m up to about 140 Bourbons and Ryes and 5 Scotch. I also have a few bottles of Four Square that I hadn’t tried. Need to inventory it all. Got shite all over

Meh. I know guys who have home wine cellars with literally hundreds of bottles. (one has a 3000 bottle cellar).
Some collect wine, I now collect whisky.
And I say collect because I buy it much faster than I could ever possibly drink it (just 1-3 drinks a week).

I’ve been using Rittenhouse Rye and like it a lot. For $25 it’s a good deal. Will try the Dickel next time though.
Oh and my scotch collection has skyrocketed to 4. Oban 18, Oban Distillers, Balvedine Caribbean and Lagavulin 16. OT ain’t got nuttin on me

Rittenhouse house is solid for Manhattans. I prefer dickel rye.

Before I was introduced to this thread I kept about three bottles of whiskey at a time all opened. Since then I now have around 50 unopened bottles stashed in a guest bedroom in addition to my bar setup with the open bottles, I went in a trip to Louisville to taste and tour bourbon distilleries and I buy any store pick or nice bottle I can get my hands on
So thank you guys for my new obsession
Undocumented pours tonight were Elijah Craig champagnes barrel pick and early times

Not sure if you’ve gone recently, but I went back and they do still have some of their ER barrel pick, doesn’t have to be in a gift basket either.

I am in the exact same boat. For years I would go every month to buy one nice and one inexpensive bottle, and I would try something new every month. I never had problems finding what I wanted though. I always lurked in this thread to discover new whiskeys to try. Once I could no longer find Blantons or Colonel Taylor the frustration taught me to start finding the ones I like and storing them. Then I became active in this thread and the avalanche began. I have about 50 bottles myself now, andI have to reel in myself from buying more every week. Wife is about to lose her shite with the money I am spending

quote:Back about 8-10 years ago I used to drink Blanton's often with my FIL. Never had issues finding it, almost had all of the toppers without even trying (we did end up finding them all before the "shortage"). Then, it started to become harder to find good stuff and I went over to beer. Was on a beer kick for the past 5 years or so, and now I'm back over to bourbon. Just really started picking up bottles in the past month.

I have 10 now, but this is soon going to be my concern:

Well, everyone on here can increase their supply even more now. Mystic Krewe Sazerac barrel has arrived.
Feel free to reach out at your convenience (text or email).
Any people that can get together as one group for pickup is appreciated.
We can schedule a Houmas or BR meetup soon. Maybe this weekend.
