I finally moved the ER barrel itself out of Republic's storage. I am going to use it as a table/bar near my grilling area in my backyard, but more importantly I finally got to see the date the barrel was filled.
The ER was 10 years 8 months old at bottle fill time. I figured some on here would like to know that info.

Hey TA, have you ever had the Craigalachie 23? I like their 13 a lot and find it one of the better scotches for the price (at least for the few scotches I have tried). Acquitipace has it for $235, and I have been tempted to grab it.

What's with the toasted barrel trend lately? How does it differ in taste from charred? I was thinking they were the same until the girl at Specs told me it's different. She didn't know how though, since she hasn't really tasted a TB yet.

All I've had of Michter's so far is their Straight Rye, and I think it's fantastic. I'll have to try this one if I see it. I also want to try their bourbon and sour mash.
Follow-up, what are the sour mash flavor profiles? I've had people compare them to like a Jack Daniels because JD is a sour mash, but I really do not like JD. Anybody have a better review/opinion of sour mashes and a good one to try?

Have really been on a big Garrison Brothers kick. Have really enjoyed the single barrell and the Balmorhea is fantastic. Has anyone on here been to Hye Texas to pick a barrel? It looks like a really cool experience. You can go with a group of friends and pick your own. Link below has a good video describing the experience. Would love to do it and would be interested if anyone has any experience.

Metry .. I was random browsing their online store and got to the M’s and was like WTF. I thought for sure they would cancel like they always do but I got the golden ticket email to come pick up.
