It's pretty sad to see all of those guys struggling like they are. That area was really turning into a dinning destination. Building 5 is killing it right now but everyone else is struggling. I'm guessing K-Street is gone. Chow yum Phat is open but seems to be struggling. Digullio's and Overpass should pull through, what are the other survivors?

K Street was going to fail with or without the pandemic (and I don't understand because I have enjoyed the few times I have gone). It was dead the last handful of times I had been and that was pre-covid.

Overpass and Digulios will be fine as will Zippys, Pinettas, Ivars and Parrains.

I have heard very good things about Building 5 and Chow Yum Phat but haven't been yet.

I'm still kind of surprised Frankie's doghouse and Schlitz are still around. I think both of them will be victims of covid as well as the sushi spot there (if it's still around). No idea how Bumsteers will make out.

I find it hard to think any full service restaurant is killing it right now.

Rock n Sake is pretty well liked and I think could hold on.

Bumsteers is horrible.

Frankie's gets a really big lunch crowd. They also have a very low overhead and doesn't require a ton of employees on payroll.

That area has potential to be the Magazine of BR if this city had the money to support just a little re-development.

Pretty sure Chow Yum Phat is doing pretty well on the “to go” side of things. The same with a place like Southfin. Their menu does well in a “to go” heavy environment.

The last couple of times we went to overpass there was a wait and the same with Digulios. Which seems to be one of the only joints open till 10. At least they were a couple weeks ago.

K Street was already on its way out. Sadly (because I know and love the owner), I have a feeling Bumsteers won’t last. Merchant and DiGuilios haven’t missed a beat, and Bldg5 is still the hot spot.

Chow Yum is one of my favorite places so I really hope it hangs on.

Funny you say this. We always talk about not understanding how it’s still open with never a soul in the place. But we admittedly never go so that’s just roadside opinions.

Salad Shop turned into a new salad spot but IDK if it’s doing well. They also opened a coffee shop there that I kinda doubt makes it. Coffee shops away from campus without a drive thru rarely make it.

I know nothing about Rock n Roll sushi.

There was a rumor Pinetta’s was shutting down back in like December so not sure there.

Bulldog is currently open, and I know the owners have deep pockets, but I’d be surprised if it’s ever the place it once was crowd wise.

Jubans is anyone’s guess.

I seriously doubt Jubans or K Street ever reopen.

I've heard that Bumsteers is done, and a new concept will come in once Covid restrictions loosen.

Most places in Overpass area have tiny dining rooms as is, so by going to 50% it's pretty easy to make them "full" but I doubt the economics of that are viable for most of those operators. Without people hanging out at the bar and drinking, it's a tough road.

I honestly forgot that Schlitz even still existed over there. Is it still open?

What about Wednesday pint nights? Are they no longer popular?

I heard a rumor that the Ivars crew bought the gas station across the street and are turning it into a bbq place, can anyone confirm or deny this? Seems like a pretty good idea if they can turn out even decent bbq

Went two weeks ago for a few drinks after dinner. Obviously no where near what it normally is but most all tables outside had people then a handful inside. They will be fine. They probably don't need anymore than 3 employees there total at a time right now.

Not like they used to be even prior to covid, but I imagine still able to cover overhead.

It was during football season at least. If it did close pre-covid, I am unaware.

Did you mean Rock n Sake or did they open another one of those shitty rock n roll sushi franchises in that area?
