I like the GE Cafe series range but don't want to pay they much for matching fridge so I'm considering the electrolux fridge (looks like a sub zero) but I really want to go look at everything in person.

Where did you buy your appliances? Considering looking at A-1 Appliance, Ferguson, and Southland Plumbing. Where should I start and does anyone have any other recommendations?

Stantons. Used my builders discount and I could find prices cheaper anywhere on the web. Not sure how their prices are for regular consumers

I did this about 10 years ago - not sure if this still works today ...

Buy an HD contractors coupon off eBay ... take that coupon to Lowe's and they will price match it ... and you don't have to be a contractor.

We patched it together from sales at Sears (dishwasher and microwave), Lowes (w/d), HH Greg (fridge), and Costco (chest freezer).

It worked for us because we were limited by price but wanted nicer appliances than a cheap suite. We also had some limitations to work around (e.g. a less common 34 inch refrigerator).

If you have a scratch & dent place in your area, it's worth a trip there to check their inventory. Some of the stuff you wouldn't want to put in your updated kitchen, but some are just damaged where you won't see it to begin with. Discounts can be up to 50%, but obviously the inventory varies.

We almost bought one at a Sears Outlet here in Birmingham. Ours was going bad, and we shopped around some. Almost pulled the trigger on one that had a slight dent on the lower left side that would have been hidden by the cabinets it would sit by, but it was just too wide and would have covered a light switch and possibly the door frame to the deck outside. But prices were great.

Bought a refrigerator from Stantons in baton rouge and loved it untill I had to get them to come out and service it for me.....the quality of the repairman was so terrible that won't go back...when someone has to come out three times for a simple repair and then still not fix it right I won't go back

When I built a house just over two years ago I bought - washer, dryer, range, refrigerator, dishwasher - all from Lowe's. Not all at the same time, their sales change. I bought the W/D 3 months before I needed them and Lowe's held them. The rest I filled in as the sales changed. The post office has a relocation kit that you can get just by asking. It included a 10% off coupon from Lowe's so I used those. And I had a 5% off Lowe's credit card, but I don't think that could be combined with the 10%. I did look around and it was hard to beat the Lowe's sales.

If you go to Lowes, go to the one on the Westbank and ask for Queenie. I'm pretty sure she's the only one there that knows what she's doing. She will find what you want and do so in the most economical way.

You'll get great, knowledgeable service at either Ferguson's or Southland.

I have GE appliances and went with the Frigidaire (Electrolux) fridge and freezer. Ideal Appliance Parts on Division in Metairie had the best price.

I bought mine online. What I wanted I would've paid over two thousand more for. DCS range w/2 ovens, 48" vent hood and stainless backsplash, and two drawer dishwasher.

Frederickson's

This was after Katrina.

Every appliance we bought when we remodeled the kitchen came from Stanton's Scatch and Dent. Close to half price for the fridge that had a scratch on the back. Nothing we bought could be picked out from anything they have in the main store.

Also if you're not in a hurry, I recently bought a fridge from Goedeker's. LINK

No sales tax and free delivery. You can pay like $50 or $100 for door delivery or the unboxing and set up. I paid the $100 for them to bring it inside just because of how my house is laid out. I applied for their credit card through Synchrony and have 6 months interest free. Bought a Maytag 22 cubic foot stainless and after delivery fees it was $1,200 on a good sale.
