Made reservations at Peche about a month ago. Got some serious points from the wife when I told her this morning
I’m fasting at lunch for penance. And to make room for fried bread and smoked tuna dip.

Exactly. All these cafeteria Catholics trying to act holy bc they go out to eat crawfish instead of eating chicken or beef. Big fricking deal. Go do a good deed if you want to look holy in front of your friends
If atheists stopped worrying so much about catholics this world would be a better place.

I wanted to cook a nice steak at home, but due to some extenuating circumstances we are going to have to eat out, and the wife wants Chimes.. so we're going to Chimes.

Big time. Worst night of the year to eat out by far. Limited menus, restaurants and kitchens are just slammed, long waits, supbar service. No thank you.
I'll eat at home or something. We will do something for VDay this weekend.

Going pick up sushi for the bride and kids and grilling a steak for myself.

Nowhere. Went to some wine event last night at Eataly and did an impromptu dinner at the counter at Eataly’s restaurant Terra.
Will be eating leftovers tonight most likely.

We did Stab's last night. Got the NY strip and the GF got the soft shell crab. Both were delicious and would go back.

I'm fasting during the day, and tonight I am making one of the following two options (not sure which direction I will take), the first which is safe, the second, not so safe:
Option One - pan fried, crispy skinned seabass (salt & pepper), with a beurre blanc, garnished with some lump crab meat with herbs (likely thyme); honey glazed whole carrots (with some thyme); roasted baby potatoes with thyme and garlic.
Option Two - miso and mirin glazed seabass, broiled, with a beurre blanc, garnished with some garlic sauteed crab meat; miso and honey glazed whole carrots; roasted potatoes with ginger and garlic and birdseye chilis.
