I can't find it in MS, so I'm headed for Baton Rouge in search of the elusive heavy cream that hasn't been ultrapasteurized. Where are a few good sources? I know y'all won't let me down!

*Update!*
Thanks for all of the suggestions, people! I missed out on the Farmers' Market. My first call was to Calandro's, and I learned they didn't carry it, but their info person suggested that I contact Feliciana Creamery. My next call was to Whole Foods, and they discovered 1 quart of Kalona that would work. My next call was to Feliciana Creamery, and I left a message for them.

We made it to Whole Foods in time to grab that 1 quart bottle of cream and other essentials. I got a text from Feliciana while we were in WF, saying that they had cream at their store and would be open until 6. We made a few other quick stops in BR and then headed for home via Slaughter. Since that's on our way to Baton Rouge, we'll probably make it a fairly regular stop!

Once again, thanks for the help! Cultured butter-making will commence tomorrow.

Feliciana's Best Creamery has it at the Red Stick Farmer's market downtown every Saturday. They run out sometimes, so you may need to get there early.

Not sure if they sell it in area stores and produce stands. I've seen the milk at Southside Produce.

What is the advantage to this?

Sounds like the raw milk rage

Just can make higher quality butter/buttermilk and make dishes with cream better. Pasteurization kills all the flavor. IMO it's worth getting your hands on to try good fresh butter, but also if you're lactose intolerant then you'll probably get wrecked by raw milk.

The cream at Costco is pasteurized, not ultra-pasteurized. It’s also delicious and inexpensive.

It’s the difference between great French cheese and butter vs American cheese/butter

A while back I had found some at Sprouts. Haven’t been there in a while and I can’t remember the name but it was from a Mennonite dairy I believe and had a light blue label.

Whole Foods has it.
I've used it to make clotted cream.
You can't make that with ultra pasteurized.

I think I've seen Feliciana's Best at Southside on Perkins. Far back right corner of the store.

I called Southside, too, and they said they don't carry any that's not ultrapasteurized. Thanks, though. At least I found it at Whole Foods and at the dairy/creamery in Slaughter.
