Check out Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba if you’re by Lincoln Park.
It’s a fantastic Spanish wine and tapas bar

Also downtown, Sienna Tavern is a great happy hour place to people watch. Food is also great.

On what to order? shite, everything is delicious, even the bread they bring out to start. But the bone marrow for sure, the oysters, tartare, and of course the steaks and old fashioneds.

Publican

Publican is good. Best BBQ in town is over there too, Green Street Smoked Meats.

Great cocktails and I had a really nice appetizer with boudin noir and beets and a quail egg as I recall.

Sorry, late next month. I had looked at Alinea too just to see. It was booked

I’m out east through tomorrow. I’ll get something to you on Tuesday, but I’ve tossed a number of options in other threads, if you do a search.

Not OP, but how old are you? First page of this thread from two weeks ago, I gave some recommendations of neighborhoods/bars to drink.

I literally have a whole excel spreadsheet of your Chicago food and drink recs already

Was just seeing if I missed anything

Hitting a cubs weekend series next month, all day games. For dinners we are going to do Fat Rice on Thur, Publican on Fri and Dusek’s on Sat as a more causal dinner where some beer nerds will be joining us

Mid 30s, looking for after dinner spots.. cocktails and wine mainly I guess. Already have The Aviary, Violet Hour penciled in and was thinking of checking out the rooftop bars at The Robey and Chicago Athletic. Anything in the vicinity of the restaurants would be a plus. Or close to Palmer House for that matter

If you're going to Violet Hour, you may as well go to the The Robey and hit the Up Room + Cabana Club. They're right around the corner from one another. Be forewarned: Violet Hour can get a line pretty quickly during the weekend.

Cocktail bars near Fat Rice (Logan Square): Lost Lake, Spilt Milk, The Walk In, Heavy Feather

Cocktail bars near Publican (West Loop): Booze Box, Blind Barber, Aviary (which you have), Fox Bar, Lazy Bird (basement of The Hoxton), Cabra (rooftop of The Hoxton - Stephanie Izard spot)

Unfortunately, don't know many places around Dusek's, but Tack Room and Punch House are in the same building.

If you'd prefer to go back near Palmer House, you could try Milk Room in the CAA, but that'll be difficult. Otherwise, I'd recommend stopping in Gold Coast / River North and going to Sparrow, Broken Shaker, Drumbar Gilt Bar, The Drifter (basement of Green Door), or Watershed.

Great stuff

I’ve been to a few of those and most of the others are on my list to check out. This will allow me to plan the logistics better

Check out Galit. It’s run by the guy who ran Shaya back when it was good.

Yeah it's damn good. It was good enough where I had to google who the chef was and realized it was the same guy from Shaya

Yeah I've said it in a few threads but if you want more of a lively steak dinner, it cannot be beat.

Had a nice lunch at Publican and explored the Fulton Market area it’s in. Lots of good looking dining choices in that area. Stroll around and find a good one. Easy to get to on the green line if staying downtown/Mag Mile area.

Ballast Point has a nice taproom and restaurant there. Can’t speak for the food, but I enjoyed a nice flight of four 4 oz. beers for a reasonable $9. They had a wide range of choices, from basic lager to barrel aged. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I agree! Gibson's and Maestro's are very good also.
If You can get into Gibson's and are a people watcher very cool to hang out in the bar area while you are waiting on your table and watch all the Important people pull up in the Valet LOL!

Gibson's

They literally tried to kill us with the portions they brought us. I almost needed a wheelchair to get out of there. Frankly, everywhere we ate in Chicago was the same with over-the-top portions.
