do you remove the poop chute or do you eat it?

ETA.... I remove it sometimes when they are big and there's a thick black amount of poop or whatever it is. Smaller not so much but for the most part it depends on how many beers I've had. Lol.....

Now when peeling the leftovers for cooking with later, yes, the poop comes out. Of the crawfish that is!

The reason I ask is I keep seeing people posting videos on removing the poop chute by twisting the end if the middle fins of the tail.

A lot of time it just comes out while it’s coming out of the shell. I certainly don’t take any extra time to remove it. I don’t use my fingers to remove the crawfish tail I use my teeth so whatever comes out is all good.

My sentiments exactly. The only time I make the time to remove the poop chute is when I'm making a crawfish dish like etouffe, fettuccini, omelet and any other dish where it would likely break off and float in the sauce. That would be a bit unappetizing for many.

Most of the time yes. Especially with big crawfish.

If you purge them in salt you don’t even have to salt the water you boil them in. You can also add some liquid boil to your purging water and marinate them for a while. Delicious

Same here but I also add some the lemons and oranges. Just make sure don't use your pot for this, the citrus will react with the aluminum.

Yellowfin said purged, but what he actually means is aerated crawfish. But crawfish in aerated water and they will absolutely be clean afterwards

He knows purging doesn’t do shite

People think that they are doing something by purging their crawfish in regular salt water but it doesn’t work unless you use Pool Salt or Epsom salt. A neat time saving hack I learned is submerging my bags of crawfish in our swimming pool a day in advance. They come out nice a clean.

The myths on this board.

Himalayan pink salt is the only thing you should use. And you don't dissolve it in water. Get one of the big salt blocks and lay the crawfish on top. Osmosis will take care of the rest.

Wouldn’t it be reverse osmosis? Either way I’m going to get a salt block and try it.

Don’t forget the mustard and Worcestershire in your marinate

Take it or leave it. More important is the mayo for the sear.

Worcestershire

Careful not to use too much. It can overpower the Italian dressing
