I need to check out Cut. I’ve always had a good meal at Tom Colicchio’s Craft Steak in Vegas.

Grill on the Alley has great steaks.

Hitching Post of Sideways fame has a really tasty chargrilled steak.

I’m genuinely asking a question here. And I know I’ll get downvotes, but I’d like to learn what makes people prefer one steakhouse to another.

I find 90% of them to be the exact same. I mean, it’s a steak. It’s kind of hard to mess up.

I’ve been to St. Elmo’s and it was nice, but I didn’t walk away with my mind blown. I’ve been to a certain Vegas steakhouse that Paul Allen knights for, and I found it to be abysmal.

It’s not that I hate steakhouses, I just don’t find any of them to be special.

I’m truly asking people to change my mind, because I love to eat but I find steakhouses very boring. I’d hate to shut out an entire restaurant group.

Legit question, actually.

For us its unique appetizers, polished service, ambiance, off-the-menu specials, freshly made desserts, seasonal menus.

You're contradicting yourself. Like you, I don't see the utility in going and paying $100+ for a steak at a steakhouse, but I've definitely had steaks that were better than others at similar priced places.

I said I find 90% of them to be the same. I gave two examples, one of which skewed to the mean.

If I’ve been to 20 steakhouses in my life, which I absolutely have, then saying 90% of them are all the same to me would still make sense.

I feel like I was asking a pretty reasonable question, and that I asked it without sounding or being judgmental. If steakhouses are your thing, more power to you. It’s your meal and your money, and that’s all that matters.

But if you want to make a comment like that as a slight, I welcome it. I’d put the parmigiano reggiano foam I had at the Number One Restaurant in the World up against the best steak you’ve ever had in your life and be confident that I had the better dish.

But that’s just me.

Abita to answer your question, of course there is no exclusivity to steak restaurants inasmuch as seafood but there are ones that buy the best quality steaks, have people that know how to perfect that temputure and deliver a cut and bite of steak that is superior to others.

If you like steak, it only takes one bite to know where you are and what you just took a bite of.

I would say if you eat meat, going into a high end steak restaurant is always something that differentiates itself from an average one.

You can hide Italian. Mexican and others with sauce etc, but steak, nope.

Like you’ve alluded to, I don’t rank the steakhouses I have been to. Each are great in their own ways.

If I’m able, I will return and see if the second trip is just as good as the first (when the excitement and novelty of going somewhere new has worn off)

Same here. I always try to get something that I normally wouldn't make at home.
