My brother is boiling crawfish. I made grilled vegetable and goat cheese crostini and sausage balls. Also some salsa and guacamole for snacking.

Grandma made like a gallon of banana pudding

Bit the bullet and went and picked up Truth BBQ in Brenham, TX. Brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, turkey, and my favorite: pepper jack cheese sausage. Sides of hash brown casserole, corn pudding, mac and cheese, potato salad, Cole slaw, and pinto beans.

Wife and daughter are making fresh picked dewberry cobbler.

Hope there is leftovers!

First time smoking a brisket so hopefully it comes out good. Any tips would be welcomed
I always enjoy seeing the train wrecks of people trying to do something like a brisket for the first time on an important day with a tight schedule

coolish and rainy, now snowing in NE Ohio...so today will be all indoor activities

might as well add breakfast: pancakes (aunt Jemima original, not the just add water crap, use half and half instead of milk), fresh LA strawberries (yeah we get some here), local maple syrup

corn pudding

This is my favorite side dish probably to ever exist. Surprisingly, the one on the hot bar at my closest Rouses is great, but they rarely have it anymore.

My kids fight over the corn pudding and hash brown casserole. This is the one bbq joint I could legitimately order a vegetable plate at. And I don’t order vegetable plates.

Something wrong with the allegro marinade?

Not a traditional method for smoking brisket. Usually just salt and pepper maybe some other seasoning. Marinating brisket will offend the brisket purists.

I am all for people doing what is best for them. New recipes are not created by following norms.
