My dad could cook things like grilled or fried fish, soft-shell crabs, boiled shrimp and once rabbit. When he cooked it was going to be a treat.

My favorite all time meal is fried pork ribs with biscuits & syrup
No one can cook it as good as my Grandma but my Dad comes pretty close
It’s what my 92 year old Grandpa wanted on Fathers Day with Steen’s Syrup

My dad always wanted to fix us cornbread and milk. We would whine and beg him to make crepes and he would. We would eat them with butter and powdered sugar.

My dad would make something we called goulash(sp), some kind of pasta, ground meat, onions, bell pepper, stewed tomatoes, corn, and some cheese.

I still think it is one-off the best things to eat.

He also would always make ham and cheese poboys with toasted buttered French bread. I do this w my kids

Did everyone's Dad cook everything WELL DONE? My Dad's coffee was well done. We knew when my parents had a "disagreement" my Dad cooked dinner. Hamburgers were crispy and when he did biscuits they had pockets of flour. He tried, bless him.
He loved the "store bought pizzas". That what he called the frozen pizzas.

My dad would brown jimmy dean sausage with onions, peppers, beans, and Rotel. Then put it in a baking dish and spread corn bread mixture on it to make a casserole. Freaking fantastic. I still make it to this day with a few modifications.

Dad’s “welsh rarebit” was nothing more than tomato soup and shredded cheddar in a double boiler served over white toast.

Add a fried chicken or pork cutlet and you've got Japanese katsudon.

My dad is a great cook, but when he was feeling his southern baw port allen roots, it was a simple tomato and mayo sandwich, or a big pot of canned white beans over rice

Fish Sticks. When mom wasn't home to cook dinner, it was just about a sure thing with Dad "cooking" growing up.

He's from CENLA, so it makes sense.

ETA: Wife's dad would drink condensed milk straight from the can. Wondered how he ended up with the diabitus. Strange thing about him, is he was never over weight, he ate like shite but never got fat. He's from the "Gateway to the World" so that kind also makes sense.

One of my Grandad's favorites from his WWII days as well. The sailors on the USS Dixie called it "shite on a Shingle".
